MAYNARD, III, William Edward "Billy"

William "Billy" Edward Maynard III, 89, of Bastrop died at home Friday, January 24, 2014.

He was born on April 7, 1924 in Bastrop, TX. Billy graduated from Bastrop High School in 1941 and received an associate degree from Shriner College in 1949 and a BA in Geology from the University of Texas Austin in 1951. He married Clara in 1982 after a 8 year courtship.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Maynard, 3 children: Dawn Kana and husband Chris, Scott Curtis, Craig Curtis & wife Rosie. Grandchildren, Erica Kana, Laura Lee Curtis, Morgan Curtis, Sam Curtis, Dan Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents William "Ed" & Elsie Maynard and his sister, Betty Maynard.

Billy owned Maynard Insurance on Main St for over 30 year. He expanded to include a real estate office and savings and loan agency. Billy served on Bastrop City Council, Chamber of Commerce Board, Historical Landmark Commission and numerous Church boards.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the American Neuropathy Association, Ascera Hospice, or a charity of your choice..

A viewing will be held Sunday, January 26th from 2-6pm and the family will be greeting friends and relatives from 4-6pm at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Monday, January 27th at 11am at First United Methodist Church in Bastrop with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery and a reception at the FUMC fellowship hall.

I am with you in my heart today, at Billy's services, although I cannot be beside you. Billy will always be in a part of me, of all of us. He will always be in our hearts.
