James Allen Braxton James Allen Braxton died at his home in Cedar Park, Texas on Thursday, January 6, 2005. He was born July 29, 1922, in Amarillo, Texas. Jim, as his family and his friends knew him, graduated from Amarillo High School and later received his BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Jim was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during World War II serving as a Radio Operator. After his service on November 27, 1948, he married Nina Jane Swearingen his wife of 56 years. Jim had his own Insurance Agency in Amarillo, Texas and worked for the IRS as a Revenue Officer. He retired and moved to Cedar Park, Texas in 1992. He currently worked part time substitute teaching for Leander ISD as he loved working with the young people and students. Jim was loved by all that knew him and took pride in his service to his country. He was a very giving man and helped many family members. He and Jane attended New Hope Baptist Church. Jim was a Deacon and Trustee in the Baptist Church and he loved his church dearly helping out and giving any way he could. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Nina Jane Braxton, his sister, Juanita Stephenson, his son, Larry Braxton and wife Carolyn and his daughter, Cheryl Braxton. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Brett, Bryce and Jamey Bagley and Luke and Kelsey Braxton. In addition he had two great grandchildren, Alex and Jaden Bagley. A Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2005, at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2005 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made in Jim s name to New Hope First Baptist Church, C/O Land Fund, 200 W. New Hope Road, Cedar Park, Texas 78613 or to the Texas Baptist Children s Home, 1101 N. Mays , Round Rock, Texas 78664. Please join us in honoring Jim by visiting our Memorial at www.cookwalden.com.
