David Evans Obituary

David Hamilton Evans David Hamilton Evans, 96 passed away on the night of May 1, 2010. The Good Lord called him up to Heaven after a courageous battle with kidney failure. David H. Evans was born in Festus, Missouri as the second child to George and Daisy Evans on September 3, 1913. David spent his entire adult life living in Texas where he attended school at the University of Houston and later graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. While still a student he enlisted in the U.S Army where he served honorably in the European theatre during WWII. He was stationed at USAAF Bury St. Edmund in Suffolk, England and was part of the 352nd Bomb Squadron. After the war he returned to Austin and graduated from UT with a business degree. He worked for the Texas Department of Health Services Milk and Dairy Division for the next 30 years before he retired as Division Director. He built close relationships with many of his co-workers which he kept contact with throughout the years. David enjoyed many hobbies during his life. As a young man he rode motorcycles and loved to race street cars. During his time in England he learned to fly airplanes which he continued doing long after his retirement. He was a longstanding member of the Longhorn Flying Club in Austin. David had a short stint playing football at UT until he was sidelined by a knee injury. He missed the action so much, that he became one of the first to film Longhorn football games using borrowed equipment from the Department of Health where he worked part-time. David also loved to play the clarinet and trombone with his brothers who where all talented musicians. He loved Texas barbecue, Dallas Cowboys football, and tinkering around his tool shop. David Evans was great man of honor, integrity, and great wisdom. He was the prime example of why his generation has been called The Greatest Generation ever. Although he led a rich and full life, he always remained a humble and down to earth individual. He was loving, compassionate, and enjoyed helping others. He was known as the caretaker of his family. He will be missed greatly as he was his family's pillar of strength and hero. David will join family who has predeceased him, father George J. Evans, mother Daisy P. Evans, brothers George Keiser Evans and Junius Anthony Evans. He leaves behind his wife, Alba Evans of Round Rock, step-daughters Carolina Trejo of Venezuela, Gabriela Hudspeth and husband Ben Hudspeth of Cedar Park, and step-son Marcos Trejo and wife Monica Trejo of Round Rock. Grandchildren, Genesis Hudspeth, Marissa Trejo, Marcos David Sambrano and Alejandro Sambrano, mother-in-law Antonia Franco, brothers-in-law Renny and Manuel Franco, sisters-in-law Nelly and Xiomara Franco. He is also survived by niece Mary Daisy Everhart and husband Jim Everhart of El Paso, their children Amy Everhart of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Eric Everhart of Albuquerque, New Mexico; niece Martha Allen Metarelis of Lewisville and her sons Steve George Metarelis and John George Metarelis of Dallas, her daughter Carol Telton of Salem, Oregon; nephew Junius Anthony Evans, Jr. and wife Debra Evans of Carlsbad, California along with sons Markus Evans of Albuquerque, New Mexico, David Evans, and daughter Jennifer Evans-Hire both from Carlsbad, California.
