Ernest Kohn Obituary

Ernest Jack Kohn Ernest Jack Kohn, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died peacefully Saturday, February 26, 2011. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy; son, Robbie; daughters, Linda and Kim Kohn of Austin, and Jackie Roach and husband, Danny of Round Rock; grandsons, Robert and Joey Kohn of Austin, and Carter Roach of Round Rock; and granddaughter, Leslie Roach of Round Rock; sisters, Ginger Robinson of Utah and Mabel Gailas of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews from Texas, Ohio, Michigan, California, Utah, Hawaii, and Alaska; dear friend, Trish Hooker, who is like a daughter, and her children Jamie and Jake; as well as countless friends. Jack began his career in Lorain, Ohio, in the Army Air Force, and after training at Lackland Air Force Base, he had assignments in Okinawa, Korea, Vietnam, Alaska, Thailand and Japan. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was a power plant operator for the City of Austin, and then, up until his death, a federal security officer for the IRS in Austin. He enjoyed many friends in Austin and around the world. Jack was a proud member of the Onion Creek Masonic Lodge No. 220 A.F. & A.M. and the Ben Hur Shriners of Austin. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park. Robbie, Linda, Kim, and Jackie,
Your dad was a special man. He (along with your mom) taught you many things. Strength, honesty, love of life, love of family to name a few. Laughter was another gift and you've learned it well because all of you have your mom and dad's sense of humor. What a gift to have at this hard, sad time. Surround your mom with your love. She needs you more than ever now. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this sad time.
