David Bussell Obituary

David William Bussell David William Bussell, a resident of Austin since 1984, died on October 1, 2007. He was born in Sparenberg, Texas, on February 7, 1934, grew up and acquired his elementary and high school education in Lamesa, Texas. Despite limb-girdle muscular dystrophy that began to bother him since age sixteen, he studied accounting, and worked as a Registered Public Accountant inHobbs, New Mexico, from 1956 to 1975. He later became a CPA in 1990. He returned to Texas and settled in San Angelo in 1975 and worked as an Alcoholism Counselor with the San Angelo Council on Alcoholism until 1983, utilizing knowledge and expertise he gained from experience. He came to Austin in 1984, enrolled at St. Edward's University New College and graduated magna cum laude, Liberal Studies in Substance Abuse Services in 1986. He later enrolled at UT Austin, gained master's degree credits in Sociology but did not finish due to difficulties relating to his physical condition. David is survived by his wife Connie; his sons, Neil and Nico, his daughter, Melinda; his grandchildren, Deborah and Beau; his brothers, Gary and Lloyd; his sisters, Patricia, Wanda, Diann and Norma Sarah; sister-in-law, Beverly; brother-in-law, Winston; some step-sisters; and his many nieces and nephews. David's body will be cremated at Mission Funeral Home at East Cesar Chavez in Austin and his ashes will be buried next to his father, Richard, in Lamesa, Texas.
