Just remember, dear friend, your are your mom's greatest memorial. You are the way you are because she was an example to you. I have said this before, one of my favorite memories of you mom was when we took the AMTRAK trip to Laredo. She was in the food car and by the time you and I had settled in and gone down there, she had already made friends with everyone in the car and had scoped out all the suitable single men for us! Elinor never met a stranger and neither have you. She always made the person she was talking to feel that they were the only person in room and so do you. She had a positive outlook on life, no matter what she was facing, and you do, too. The loss of her love will leave a big emptiness, but you are so lucky that you had a mom who lived every minute of her life!

Elinor poured life and love into my life and the lives of my family. She was the truest friend to my mother, Elinor Gower, and she was like another mom to me and another Grandma to my children. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers as you must miss her so, and yet can take comfort in knowing she is home with her Saviour and with all of those who love her and went before her.

My husband, John, and I were so very saddened to learn of Elinor's passing. She and Lloyd were very regular customers of our family restaurant, Greenery Station/Depot Cafe, in Seguin. They were such wonderfully delightful people and such great Christian role models for everyone. Their love for each other was so very evident. Our prayers for comfort, peace, and strength are with your family.

My sincere condolences to all members of the Strot family on your mother's passing. Both she, and Mr. Strot were very loyal, avid, and supportive fans of the Texas Lutheran College (now University) Women's Volleyball team. I should know; I played there from 1978-1981. Your parents (as well as Mr. and Mrs. Morck) frequently followed us to many of our out of town tournaments, and were our best fans! Your mother was so encouraging and had such a delightful sense of humor--- she kept our spirits high!
Strangely enough, I share something with you all: My parents, Robert and Joyce, are interred next to your father. I have always made it a point to say hello and thanks to him when I visit.
What a wonderful woman! God Bless you all...

Rick, from reading the guest book comments, I gather your mom was a great lady who lived a full wonderful life. One thing for sure, she raised a fine, caring son. I wish I had known her. Our thoughts are with you, Adam and Ben,and your sisters and families.

Elinor was a great lady, a joy to have in our parish when I served as her pastor. I rejoice with her at the completion of her Baptism and her full entrance into God's kingdom. My prayers are with the family as you give thanks for Elinor's life through tears.
Rest eternal grant Elinor, O Lord, and let Light perpetual shine upon her!

Auntie Elinor,
We know that Heaven’s door opened to let you in and your parents, siblings, friends and everyone whom you have touched though out your life were there to welcome you in. What a celebration that you have joined. You will never be
forgotten because you are in all of our hearts. Your love for all, your
cheerfulness, your humor, the bright twinkle in your eyes, your smile that was welcoming to all, your laughter, your life lesson’s, your attitude and joy for life, your willingness to try anything, your encouragement to keep us going, your generosity, and you honesty. You have been a role model for so many.
I remember many things about you and your family. All the Christmas’s you, Uncle Lloyd, and your five children would drive up to Minneapolis (cold and snow) and surprise all of us at Grandma and Grandpa Hansen’s house on 11th Avenue South. The many times on the North Shore, your many trips to Norway
with my mom, dad, and Grandma. The list could go on and on.
You lived a wonderful life here on earth and now a fantastic journey in
Heaven. You will always be remembered for bringing smiles to our faces,
memories in our minds and warming our hearts. What a wonderful feeling that
is.
Love and God Speed

Your Mom was awesome. During her years at Holt, Rinehart and Winston, I admired her life ethic and love for her children, for travel and for her church. She always came around to tell us about her world travels. I loved to hear her tell about growing up in the ‘castle’ in Minnesota…..she truly did live a fairytale life. And, when HRW moved across town in 2001, she invited us all to her beautiful condo in South Austin because she was not going to make the drive to the new location. To all our surprise, she opened her china cabinet and gave us all a choice of her collection of coffee cups that she and your father had collected around the world while in the military. I still have a beautiful yellow rose cup and saucer and I think of Elinor every time I look into my china closet.
What a beautiful life she lived and we all loved her for living it to the fullest. God rest her soul……may you and your sisters and brother find great joy in knowing that an awesome God gave you the very best mother in the whole world…..and the good part is that we will all meet her again when we all go to our eternal destination. I want to hear more of her stories and be amongst her Heavenly friends.
Thanks for sharing your Mom with us.

Elinor, you gave us a reason to stop by Photo Research, no matter how bad our day was or stressed we were, your smile and warm touch reduced our anxiety and reminded us what was important, love and sharing. You will be missed, but not forgotten. Thank you.
