Lillian Hutchison Obituary

Lillian Iden Hutchison Lillian Iden Hutchison, 88, retired forensic document examiner of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 28th of January 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Hutchison Jr., on the 19th of December 1996. Shortly after, she relocated from Houston to Georgetown, Texas to be closer to her children. She is survived by her son, William Andrew Hutchison III; daughters, Kaye Rogers of Austin and Ellette Vinyard of Elgin, Texas; granddaughters, Sarah Lamere of San Diego, California and Becky Blair of Anthem, Arizona; and grandson, Troy Vinyard of Georgetown, Texas. While living in Bellaire, just inside Houston during the 1950s and 1960s, she was well known for her personalized, wedding catering business, The Brides Maids of Bellaire. In the late 1960s she became interested in analyzing handwriting. As typical for her, she always strived for perfection and became an independent handwriting analyst in 1970 and an independent document examiner in 1974. She held memberships in World Association of Document Examiners (WADE), Independent Association of Question Document Examiners (IAQDE), National Association of Document Examiners (NADE), Forgery Investigators Association of Texas, American Society of Industrial Security and the National Forensic Center. She was one of few who were trained in both fields; graphoanalysis and forensic document examination and her reputation for integrity was unquestioned. During her membership with WADE since 1974, she served on the Advisory Board, established and instructed many of the resident training courses. During her membership with IAQDE since 1978, she served as the membership director from 1981 through 1991 and again from 1996 - 1998, as Vice President during 1992, President-Elect in 1993 and President from 1994 - 1995. She was a member of NADE from 1980 - 1983 and served as the National Chapter Chairman. Her membership with Forgery Investigators Association of Texas began in 1978 where she served as a program lecturer, elected to the board of governors in 1989, elected to fourth Vice President in 1992, third Vice President in 1993, second Vice President in 1994 and first Vice President in 1995. During her membership with American Society of Industrial Security from 1981 - 1996, she was a program lecturer. Her membership with the National Forensic Center began in 1980 where she served as the chairman of document section of the annual conference in 1989. On July 29, 1985 she was awarded the International Graphoanalyst of the Year award while she served as the IGAS President. She authored over 15 research papers and publications in the field of forensic document examination, was featured in the Austin American Statesman in July of 2000 and again featured on KXAN in Austin, Texas in early 2003. She was active in church and civic affairs, was a member of the Bellaire Methodist Church while living in Bellaire, Texas and after relocating to Georgetown, joined The Worship Place within Sun City Georgetown, Texas. She was a member of the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce where she served as its director in 1980. She was a Rotarian both in Bellaire where she earned Rotary's highest honor for an individual Rotarian, the Service Above Self Award and joined the Georgetown Rotary chapter after relocating to Sun City Georgetown, Texas. The memorial service will be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 5th of February, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. To the family of Lillian Hutchison I wanted you to know that we in the Seekers Class at Bellaire United Methodist Church remembered Lillian. She served as our president in 1978-1979. There are some in our class who were not in the class that long ago, but some of us are still around. Jack Deans in particular was impressed with her ability in analyzing handwriting. Jack died several years ago, but his wife, Gladys, remarked about this ability of Lillian. Iknow you are happy that she went to her reward peacefully.

To Bill, Kaye and Ellette: Your mother, my sister, was truly one of a kind. She came into my life while your dad (my best friend) was serving during World War II. She lived with my mother and dad, my brother David and me on Cason Street in West University Place while carrying Bill. She took me into her home during my first year in college because there was no room for me in the dormitories. There is a special place in Heaven for Lillian. I will never forget her; she was family.
