Linda Evans Obituary

EVANS, Linda Jacob 70 of Austin, Texas. On November 9, 2017 Linda's baptism became complete in her death. Linda was born in Houston, Texas on July 7, 1947 to Marvin and Eva Clark Jacob. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she was an education and voice major, president of Alpha Chi Omega, and voted Miss SFA. Linda and David were married on June 7, 1969 then moved to New Jersey where David began studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. They lived in Annapolis, Maryland for four years where Matt and Whitney were born and Linda's voice won her many roles in Annapolis area community theater. After two years in Washington, DC the family moved to Austin in 1978 when David was called to be founding pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. Linda lived a full life as Mom, as a career development officer, and as a vocalist for choirs. She sang with the outstanding choir at University Presbyterian Church and served as a ruling elder on the Session. Linda was courageous in living out her deep faith in God. She traveled to the former USSR six times in the 80's and 90's to meet, pray with, and encourage Christians there. She loved it when a friend called her a "peacemaker". Even in the last four months as she battled glioblastoma she never wavered in her trust in the gracious promises of God. She found her deepest joy at family gatherings, especially when they included her precious grandchildren. The five of them were her pride and joy and she attended baseball and soccer games, gymnastics and cheerleading events until the very end. Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, the Rev. Dr. David M. Evans; her son Matt and his wife Maya and their children Hadden, Jorren and Brynn of Dripping Springs; her daughter Whitney and husband Mike Musitano and their daughters Olivia and Eva of Austin; her brother Clark and his wife Mary of Tulsa; her sister in law Kay Evans Seward of Rowlett. A service of witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ will be held at University Presbyterian Church in Austin on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Pan American School in Kingsville, Presbyterian Mo Ranch Assembly in Hunt, or Schreiner University in Kerrville.
