Mike MAYNARD Obituary

MAYNARD, Mike Mike S. Maynard, loyal and devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully in his home on August 27, 2017. He was 61 years old. Mike was born to Ed and Charlotte Maynard in Albany, Georgia on January 20, 1956. He is survived by his wife and companion of 33 years Sharon Maynard, his parents Ed and Charlotte Maynard, his sister Mary Stalker, and niece Sierra Stalker. Mike grew up in an Air Force family and considered the moves he made around the world to be his greatest education. In 17 years of formal education, he attended 14 different schools. In 1980 he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. In the summer of 1983 he started a dart team in the Austin Dart Association called Grateful Darts. At 34 years, the team remains the longest-running dart team in the Austin area. A big fan of live theater, he attended 98 productions of the theatre group Red Dragon Players from Austin High School. This included 3 State Championships in UIL competitions. Although Mike primarily loved listening to the Grateful Dead, he was also a huge Frank Sinatra fan. Mike would like to be remembered for the way he lived, not how he passed away. A celebration of Mike's life and his love for living will be planned by his family in the near future.

I am very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I knew Mike in college in Munich and then again in Denver and Fort Collins. I have many fond memories of our times together, and will always remember his big smile, his warm personality and his beautiful, long blond hair. I know he is missed by many. Sincere condolences to his family.

Mike was the first friend I made when I moved to Austin. He truly was a loyal friend, helping me fix my car, and things around the house, as well as to move, on more than one occasion. After knowing me only a few months, he asked me to join his dart team, and this sinched our friendship of 33 years. We enjoyed several of the same friends, parties, and concerts. He became one of my best friends, and is already sorely missed. Mike Maynard, I love you man.

I met you at my Grandma's and you were a really awesome guy. When I change schools,a lot too, my grandma reminds me that i will be ok as she tells me your story and she says you
came out fine. So I guess we have something in common. We went for those rides up to Ted's and Barbies and I had to tell your dad the reason you guys were late that there really was a car accident on the road. We all had fun that day.My grandma said that you will be with my other grandma, grandma wanda, she's a nice lady you will enjoy being with her. I have been doing good in my new schools, and met some new friends, Ill think of you. Were family, Love Ian

So many years we spent playing against each other, and sometimes, with each other when you all would have me sub on the team. I am saddened by your passing. But I smile at all of the wonderful memories that I have of you, your sense of humor and your calming presence. I am richer for having known you for 30 years. I will miss our games and you. Much love to the family, my deepest condolences. May God bless you and keep you and wrap his arms around you. Thoughts and prayers.
