Randy Ellis Obituary

Randy Ellis Randy Ellis, loving son, husband, father, brother and friend passed away on Nov. 9th, 2011. He was born on Oct. 12, 1958. A native of Sodus, NY, Randy was an avid skier and worked as a ski instructor at nearby Brantling Ski Slopes. He was a high scorer on his high school soccer team and later played 10+ years in Austin's recreational league. Randy and his bride, Patty, took a three month cross-country road trip in 1983 in search of adventure and a warmer climate. They found both in Austin. His friendly personality fit well with a successful career selling new homes for Austin builders. In addition to family, Randy loved reading, touch football, hiking Barton Creek, tubing the Frio River, golfing and playing poker. His smile and fun-loving, mischievous humor were known by all. He was preceded in death by his father Gary Ellis. Randy is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patty, three daughters, Tarra, McKenzie, and Devon, mother Marlene Ellis, sisters Julie Thompson and Nikki Greenwood. In celebration of a life well lived family and friends may gather from 11:30 am - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19 at The County Line, 6500 Bee Cave Road, Austin, TX 78746. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to "Austin Parks & Recreation" for Barton Creek Greenbelt, 200 S. Lamar, Austin TX 78704, or a college fund set up for Randy's youngest daughter, Devon Ellis, at Wells Fargo Bank payable to "Memorial Account for Devon Michelle Ellis."

Patty, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Randy standing on the corner with the girls waiting for the school bus. He was such a nice man and a lot of fun at the soccer games. My prayers are with you and the girls. May God bring you strength and hold you in his arms.

Randy was an awesome brother. He taught me how to play soccer, taught me how to stick up for myself and many other things too numerous to count. The best things I remember about him are his smile and his laugh. Both were infectious. I will always remember the fun times because that was what my brother was all about. I love you and miss you big brother. See you in Heaven some day. You're little sister Nikki.

Patty and girls, I am so sorry and sad about Randy. What a wonderful guy; we all thought a lot of you and Randy. I know you miss him and I wanted to share this very speical poem with you and your girls.
All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

God Bless you all

I had the privilege of growing up with Randy. Given the early bouts with cancer his passing evokes tremendous emotion. No one has ever imparted on friends and loved ones greater courage and attitude. He taught us what it is to live. Too young... too short. Miss ya Bro!

I had the pleasure of working with Randy at Apartment Finders many years ago. Randy was the guy with a perpetual smile on his face and he had the ability to light up the office. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I know he will be missed dearly by his friends and family. My heart goes out to you Patty and your daughters and extended family. Take care.

I've known Randy since his family built a house just down the road from me when we both were in middle school. We grew up together doing many things. I can still remember when he saw Patty for the first time, he said "I am going to marry that girl." I then had the honor of being the best man at their wedding. I have many fond memories of our times together and will miss him. He was my best friend.

My condolences to Patty and the rest of the family. Take care and God bless.

Just found out about Randy. We worked together at Doyle Wilson and have so many great memories with him. I could always count on him to make me laugh and be a ray of sunshine when I was having bad days. My deepest sympathies go out to you all. I am so sorry for your loss and take comfort in knowing that he is in HIS hands.

Dear Patty, Terra, McKenzie, and Devon - I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember all the times we'd sit at soccer games, watching McKenzie and Sarah play (Devon often in a UT cheerleaders outfit). Or when you cajoled me into playing in the adult league (didn't have a clue, but tried). Randy really excelled at new home sales. His smile and his laugh were infectious. I always felt comfortable talking to him about a new home community - I knew he'd give me the straight story - and treat my clients right.

Warm regards,

Marie Magnelia
