Nicholas Woodson Bellomy Nicholas Woodson Bellomy, our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend went to be with his Father in heaven, on Sunday, November 28, 2010. He joins his paternal grandparents Marie and Don Bellomy. Our Nick-Nick announced his arrival on February 9, 1989, in Atlanta, GA, by being noted the baby with the best set of lungs in the nursery. His maternal grandmother traveled from Texas to Georgia with a bag of Texas soil, to ensure his feet hit Texas first. The family returned to Houston, Texas, relocating to Austin shortly thereafter. As a toddler, Nick's favorite television shows were Dark Wing Duck and Power Rangers---Nick was rarely found without a cape or Power Ranger shield. Nick attended Highland Park Elementary School, where he was honored as a Leadership Austin Kid. It was at Lamar Middle School where he first began playing the cello and while a member of the McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy orchestra, played at Carnegie Hall. Nick received several awards while at McCallum, including the Trustee's Award. He attended the High School Summer College Program at Stanford University. As a member of the McCallum High School Class of 2007 he was an honors' graduate in the top ten percent of his class. Nick was a senior at The University of Texas in Austin and was one week shy of graduating with a Bachelors degree in psychology and a minor in philosophy. He planned to attend medical school after graduation. Nick attended Camp Longhorn, for 8 years, as a camper as well as a counselor in training. He was a voracious reader, great cook and loved playing catch with his younger brothers, Frisbee golf and spending time with his friends. His buddies at the co-op referred to him as "Brick", as he was the most solid, dependable friend they had. He was always there for his brothers and friends, whenever they needed him. Nick had a heart of gold and had an exceptionally close, loving relationship with his family. He shared his family with his friends, especially at holidays, making sure they knew they were welcome at his family's home. Nick's compassion for his family, friends and all living things was perhaps his greatest gift. He hoped to enter the medical field, to help others, and his contribution to mankind will be tragically missed. Nick is survived by his parents Carol and Gary Bellomy, brothers Connor and Wes, maternal grandparents Nancy Dryden of Kyle, TX and Woodson Dryden of Beaumont, TX, aunts and uncles Linda Simmons, Donna Bellomy, Judith and John Breidenbach, Kim Harper, Chrissy and Rick Neal and Erich Dryden, cousins Josh and Meredith Hulen, Jessica and Gary Ralston, Emily Breidenbach, Taylor and Will Harper, Bryce, Reed and Griffin Neal, as well as a large extended family. Nick's sweet spirit filled his family with joy and he will be in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, December 2nd, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Weed- Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3rd, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 4311 Small Drive, Austin TX. Burial immediately to follow at Austin Memorial Park 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin TX. Pallbearers are Michaels Glassman, Alex Craik, Justin Horowitz, David Tovar, Ansel Aguirre and Sam Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Hulen, Taylor Harper, Bryce Neal, Melissa Wright, Holly MacRossin and Kelly Wonder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCallum Orchestra Performance Fund.
