Laura BECHTEL Obituary

BECHTEL, Laura Mitchell "Page"

Laura "Page" Mitchell Bechtel, 58, died peacefully at home on Friday morning after a vigilant battle with lung cancer. She was born to the late Terry and Maret Ann Mitchell, on June 7, 1955 in Winfield, Kansas. Page received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1988 and graduated as valedictorian. After graduation, although she was accepted to both Harvard University Law School and Yale University Law School, she decided to continue her education at the University of Texas School of Law where she obtained her doctor of jurisprudence in 1991.

Page married the love of her life, Paul Bechtel, on September 15, 2007 and they resided in Lost Creek.

In addition to Paul, Page is survived by her sons, Sean Finch and Matthew Bechtel, both of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Maret Mitchell, of Flagstaff, AZ and her nephew, Ryan Kinney, of Tempe, AZ.

Page was a very successful trial lawyer and devoted the majority of her practice to family law. Since 1998 she was a partner with the law firm of Mitchell & Colmenero, LLP.

She was so many things to so many people. Page was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family above all else.

Page loved to play golf and travel. If she planned any trip, golf was a requirement in the itinerary. Being home with Paul, Matthew and Holly was her favorite time. She loved her friends and everyone in her family and took good care of all of us. We will miss her.

The family will be holding a service to celebrate her life at 6:30PM on Thursday, January 23rd at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Goodwill Industries.

Karen Choate

The Choate family sends our prayers and deepest sympathy to Page's family. Page recently represented our son in a custody trial for his son, (our grandson). She was a brilliant attorney, caring, funny and dedicated to the end, helping those in need. She truly was a blessing in our lives at a time when we needed her most. We will never forgot her, or what she did to help keep our little grandson safe with his dad, and our family together. May God bless you, and keep you, Page. He took another Angel home......
