Jacob Alvar Lindgren Jacob Alvar Lindgren, 86, lifetime resident of Manor, Texas, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 15, 2006. Jacob was born the fourth of five children, on a farm in Manor, June 24, 1920, to Enoch and Myrtle Nylon Lindgren. He married Mildred Jean Nehring on May 16, 1951, and they raised three children, Chuck, Jake, and Jean. He was a farmer and rancher for over 40 years, as well as a school bus driver in Manor, and retired in 1985 from the Chilling Station at the University of Texas after 30 years of service. Lovingly known as "Paw-Paw", he enjoyed sitting in his front yard, reading Louis L'amour western novels, and telling stories of his childhood to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jacob is preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Myrtle Lindgren, and older siblings, Katherine Eriksson, Wilgert "Buddy" Lindgren and Cecelia Ewald. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Mildred Jean, and younger sister Patricia Lindgren, of Austin; his children, Chuck and wife Betty Lindgren, and Jake Lindgren, all of Manor, and Jean and husband 1st Sgt. Clifford Barnes, Jr. of Austin; his grandchildren, Terri and husband Andrew Siens of Manor, Jason Lindgren of Austin, Shirley and husband Anthony Esteraf of Columbus, GA, Samantha and husband Mark Schroeder of Austin, Angela Lindgren of Rowena, Kyle Lindgren of College Station, and Clifford Barnes, III of Austin. He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nate, Chris, Meghan, Sandy, Stephen, Preston, Presleigh and Brycen. Visitation will be held Monday, September 18, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Elgin Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 19th, at 11:00 a.m., at Austin Memorial Park.
