Faye Harriet Hood

MARYSVILLE, CALIF. - Faye Hood, of Marysville, California, passed away July 10, 2011 in Marysville. She was born on July 23, 1922 to Ross and Susan Cutsforth and raised on the family farm in Oregon's Willamette Valley with her two brothers and a sister. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Donald Hood, in 1941 and they raised their family next door to the farm where she was born. Faye's life was centered around the family she loved. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, winning the crown of "Queen of the Kitchen" twice at the Oregon State Fair during the 1950's. As her children grew up she was a faithful volunteer at their schools, organizing and carrying out many fundraisers and social events. In 2003 Faye moved from her home in Oregon to the Yuba-Sutter area, and lived with her daughter, Marilyn, and son-in-law Charles. She joined the First United Methodist Church of Marysville and immediately felt at home with her church family. Immediate survivors include her children, Marilyn Center (Charles) of Smartsville, California; Merle Hood (Susan) of Keizer, Oregon; and Melinda Bouldin (Ed) of Boise, Idaho. She was grandmother to Donald Center, Jonathan Center, Kaci Center, Megan Steele, Caleb Hood, Kassi Brandt, and Tory Reed. She was great- grandmother to Teja Butler, Damarco Navarro, Alina Center, Kinsey Center, Kai Steele, Maddi Steele, Jayden Brandt, Ellisyn Brandt, and Nelah Brandt. She is survived by a brother, Gary Cutsforth of Brothers, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Donald Hood, and son, Milo Hood. A memorial service was held July 18, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, 730 D Street, Marysville, California 95901, with Pastor Glen Raley officiating.
