Bessie & family,
We have never met. I am in the process of notifing all the members of our 1963 WHS class for our upcoming 50th celebration in June of 2013.
I am so sorry to hear of Curts passing, I along with many others were so looking forward to the possibility of seeing Curt after so many yrs.
I must admit that I might not have known him if I was to meet him on the street --- looks like he had lost most of that beautiful black wavy hair !! Guess we all have.
On behalf of the class of 1963 please accept our sympathy. I know that God will bless you with understanding, healing, and comfort.
God Bless,
Wes Sauer

Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish
until my dying day.
And when it comes to
my last cast,
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord's
Great landing net
and peacefully asleep
that in His mercy I be judged
BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

For You created my inmost being, You knit me together in my mother's womb.
Psalm 139:13
I thank God that it was His purpose to bring Curtis into our lives.
He was given great talent and attributes which he was glad to share with all of us.
As a sibling I recall countless wild and crazy moments with Curt and the rest of my
brothers and sisters...good, bad - happy and sad.
I especially remember standing in his front yard the day he accepted Christ as his savior.
A witness to a genuine miracle, because I always knew that Curt would be a tough nut to crack.
Yet to all who receive Him, to those who believe in His Name, He gives the right to
become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a
husband's will, but born of God. John 1:12-13
His life truly changed that day, and through the years we watched as Curt's heart became
tender because God had rescued his life from the dominion of darkness and brought him
into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of
sins. Colossians 1:13-14
Curt continually invited us to share in the activities he loved, and touched our lives with a
treasure chest of hospitality and generosity. He introduced many of us to people we
would not have otherwise met and who remain friends to this day.
He told endless jokes and stories of life, lessons learned, and of wisdom and guidance.
Curt simply lived to make people laugh, to give and to help.
I'm convinced I'll join you one glorious day...because our lives are a mist that appears for
a little while, then vanishes. James 4:14
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15
For all of these reasons and countless more I will miss you my beloved brother.

We will miss your "jokes", your "witty" self, and your salmon recipes. Butch will always cherish the fishing trips and you teaching him how to float the rivers. You left us too early; but I know God has a plan for you. Elk Camp will never be the same with out you. Rest in peace, Curt and know that you will be sadly missed and never forgotten.

Bessie, Kristie and family:
I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Curt's passing; much too soon I might add. I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember all the things we did together in Canby, Curt's love of hunting and fishing, and his love for the Lord. We can take comfort that he is now in a better place where he can walk those streets of gold. May God Bless you always.

I did not know Curtis but if was anything like Russell I am sure he was a fine man, my condolences to his family

There are no words that can express my sorrow at Curt's sudden passing. The only comfort is that Curt was getting ready to go fishing, so I just know in my heart he left us happy. My LOVE to Bessie, Kristie, Max, Josh, Jordon and all his sisters and brothers and their families. The Hirschkorn"s were a tight knit family and I can just feel your pain. I can't imagine what elk camp is going to be like without his jokes and a perfectly cooked salmon with his " secret sauce". Happy fishing Curt. With Love Chris Chapin

Thank you Curtis, for helping me realize a life long dream of fishing in Alaska....3 times no less! Your good humor and friendly disposition will be missed. I will fondly remember the days we spent on the Situk. Even though you caught many fish, each one was like the first, as you could tell that you were in your element. My prayers and thoughts are with your family, and I look forward to seeing you again someday. Maybe we could go fishing?

I would like to tell My Aunt Bessie, Cousin Kristie, her family, and my aunts/uncles/cousins. I wish I was closer during this storm. I am so sorry for the the loss that you are all feeling. Curtis was my Uncle and although distance kept us apart, it did not remove him from my heart. Memories of him will always be kept close to me and shared with love ones. He was like my Dad's twin in some ways and I will always remember his advise and demonstration of perserverance. He will be missed by all who knew him and we have been so blessed to have had him in our lives in some way. I know he is in Heaven with no tears, pain, fears or sorrow. Lord comfort those who are directly effected by this loss and bring them peace. Love Worm :)

I will miss you walking in the shop door and saying "Ohhh...hellooo", the excitement in your voice when you would tell me you found a fishing rod on sale, your voice on the phone cause you knew it was me and most of all, your bear hugs. I love you Dad, you will be greatly missed.
