Darrell Lowen Obituary

Darrell L. Lowen December 31, 1930 - July 2, 2010 DALLAS - Darrell L. Lowen, 79, a resident of Dallas died Friday, July 2, 2010 at home. He was born on December 31, 1930 in Dallas, the son of Frank and Mary Nikkel Lowen. He married Charlene Veona Earl July 13, 1956 in Dallas; she preceded him in death in 2003. He served in the Air Force during the Korean. He worked as a log truck driver and then for Meyers Trucking Company hauling steel containers for 25 years. He retired in 1991 and was very proud to have been accident free. Darrell was the first truck driver in Oregon to have pulled three trailers. He enjoyed radio controlled airplanes and wood working. He earned his private pilots license. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes and stories. He is survived by daughters, Sonjia Ewell (Gary) of Lubbock, Texas and Twila Mendoza of Dallas; and son, Les of Dallas; along with grandchildren, Brian, Garrett, Doug, Lance, Blain, Dean, Jenifer and Brandy; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Vern of Sweet Home, Ron of Salem and Ken of Vancouver, B.C. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 7th in the Dallas Cemetery. The Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is handling the arrangements. To leave an online condolence for the family go to www.dallastribute.com.
