Agnes Letendre Obituary

Agnes Letendre STATESVILLE Agnes Theresa Letendre, 92, passed away on March 23, 2011 at the Gardens. She was born to William and Mary McNulty on June 18, 1918 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Agnes was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. After 53 years in Massachusetts she moved to North Carolina in 1971 with her husband and two youngest daughters. She is survived by five daughters Joan Letendre of Hartford Connecticut, Gail Letendre of Easthampton Massachusetts, Julie Letendre of Amherst, Massachusetts and Ann Everidge and Barbara Letendre of Statesville, North Carolina, and one son, Raymond Letendre of Greenfield, Massachusetts. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Zeb, Angie (and husband Jeff ), Alex, Niko, Meagan, Noah, Samantha, Chelsea (and husband Jarrett), Asha and Amanda. Her three great grandchildren who gave her immense joy are Gwendalynn, Lila and Skyler. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Jerry of 64 years. Her oldest son Gerald was killed in Vietnam in 1966. Agnes was a mother and homemaker and as her children grew she became a business owner. She was an employee and finally the owner of Pope Egg Store in Troutman North Carolina for ten years. This was the perfect job for her as the store was close to her home on the hill and she loved serving the people of Troutman. She did this with her characteristic kind and friendly manner. She was a member of St. Philip's the Apostle Catholic Church in Statesville, North Carolina. The family send words of appreciation to the wonderful, caring staff at the Gardens of Statesville for all that they provided Agnes during the last year of her life. The weekly prayers and spiritual counseling provided by Mrs. Brantley of St. Philip the Apostle Church sustained Agnes. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to the staff at Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for their compassionate caretaking during the last weeks of her life. Agnes so appreciated each and every one of you for all your love and kindness. Agnes will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at St. Phillips the Apostle Catholic Church. The burial will follow the service in Iredell Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening, Friday, March 25, at Reavis Funeral Home in Statesville. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Drive, Statesville, NC, 28625 or the Iredell County Library, Troutman Branch, 215 West Church Street, Troutman, NC 28166.

We have forgotten to include an important member of our family in this obituary. Our brother-in-law Scott Everidge, husband of our sister Ann. Our Mother loved him as a son.

May God bless you and comfort your family during this difficult time. I lived down the street for many years and knew your Mother and Father and both were some of the kindest people I have ever met. They never passed my house without waving. They are truly missed.
