Thomas Curlee Obituary

Tom Curlee STATESVILLE Thomas "Tom" Curlee, 86, of Statesville, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Curlee was born in May 11, 1924 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Robert Nelson Curlee and Lavaida Freeze Curlee. He was a graduate of Davidson County Schools and on August 24, 1945, he married Rachel Keller Curlee, who survives of the home. Mr. Curlee was retired from Johnson's Furniture Store where he worked as a service representative. He was a former member of the Chapter V Motorcycle Club (Goldwing) and he was of the Methodist faith. Along with his parents, Mr. Curlee was also preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Heath Akers and Mary C. Sigmon. In addition to his wife, Rachel K. Curlee, Mr. Curlee is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy C. Braggins of Hendersonville, and Betty Sundstorm of Jacksonville, Fla. along with a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Charles Cook officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services at the cemetery and at other times will visit with friends at the home of Rachel Curlee. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28725. Online condolences can be made at www. nicholsonfunerals.com/obituaries.
