George Hardman Obituary

George A. Hardman

Longtime Stevens Point resident George A. Hardman, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2013. George was born July 21, 1930 to the late George Sr. and June Hardman, and grew up in the small town of Warrenville, IL.

George graduated from Baptist Bible College, and joined the Army, serving in Korea. He met Patricia Ann Packer soon after returning to civilian life, and they married in 1957.

George earned his BA in Industrial Arts, and his masters in Special Education. He moved to Stevens Point in 1975 and taught at Ben Franklin Junior High and SPASH in both Special Education and Industrial Arts. He retired in 1995.

In retirement, George and his wife Pat served two years as missionary teachers in the Philippines, and worked with the Navajo Indians at the Christian Discipleship Center in Cortez, CO. He was a very active volunteer at Grace Baptist Church in Plover, leading AWANA clubs, serving as a Deacon, leading singing, and working with the Sunday School program.

Since his wife's death in 2011, George has been living with his granddaughter Sarah (Mark) Jaggar, and their two kids. He recently moved in with his eldest son Steve (Cheryl) Hardman, in North Carolina.

George was married to Patricia for 54 wonderful years. Their devotion to each other throughout their marriage is an inspiration to all who knew them. He is survived by four children, Steve (Cheryl) Hardman, Jim (Connie) Hardman, Kathy (Dan) Leitch, and Ron (Sue) Hardman; eleven grand-children, four great-grandchildren, and sister Betty (Mike) Michael.

A service will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church in Plover. Pastor Gary Akright will officiate. Visitation begins at 10 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM, a light lunch, and then a graveside service at the Plover Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the Christian Discipleship Center, Cortez, CO.

George was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, and looked forward to the day he would meet his Lord and Savior face to face. Though we will miss him dearly, the knowledge that he is with Jesus gives us great peace.

George and Pat have always been an example to us and a mentor to so many children and children workers. Heaven will be populated with many because of George and Pat's ministry. He will be missed here, but we know he is now enjoying his Savior Jesus, as well as Pat.
