Dr. Gernstein was my eye doctor for over twenty years until I moved to the East coast. He was a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Marguerite Jahns

When he left his practice, I greatly missed this great Optometrist and ethical man who loved his family. I can only imagine the family's feeling of loss.

To Susan and her entire family,
We are so sorry about the loss of your father. I've never known a more dapper man, elegant even in casual clothes! He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and they all loved him very much, too-- proof of a worthy, well-lived life.
Our thoughts are with you all,
Marsha

Sending prayers in memory of your beloved father, husband, uncle and friend. I remember Susan from Meramec School, Wydown and Clayton High -- and the beautiful family home with the circular staircase. What a charmed upbringing we all had and thanks be to God for the long and happy life of Dr. Gernstein.

I have not seen Dr. Gernstein (or as I called him, Dr. Gernie)in probably 30 years. He was my eye doctor, my neighbor, and a wonderful man. He came to my house once when I had stayed out all night, left my contacts in, and scratched my corneas. My parents were out of town, so he saved me big time!! Even after I moved away, I tried to keep him as my eye doctor. After a few years, my husband told me that was nuts, and I needed a local doctor. I left Dr. Gernie reluctantly! He was such a sweetheart, and I know that you all will miss him dearly. Please know you are in my thoughts. Julie Schweig Hutton
