Shirley Hartstein Obituary

Hartstein, Shirley Friedman of Creve Coeur, MO died peacefully at the age of 86 in her place of residence on Saturday, November 26, 2011 under the compassionate care of hospice. Born in St. Louis and married to H. David Hartstein until his death in 1984. Beloved mother and mother-inlaw of Cydney (Keith) Strand, Larry (Gail) Hartstein, Marc (Marcy) Hartstein and Ann (Cathy Stern) Hartstein; dear grandmother of Lauren (Jason) Brown, Adam (Chloe) Hartstein, David Hartstein and Kimberly Hartstein. Dear sister and sister in law of Goldie (the late Gerald) Satz and the late Ralph (the late Rita) Freeman; dear sister-in-law of Lorraine (the late Raymond) Schankman and the late Julian (Ruth) Hartstein. Involved in many volunteer activities and a leader in community organizations, Shirley served as the President of Shaare Zedek Congregation, President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Jewish Center for the Aged and President of the Creve Coeur Women's Golf Association. Services: Funeral service Tuesday, November 29th 11:00 AM at Shaare Zedek Synagogue, 829 N. Hanley Road. Visitation Tuesday 10:30 AM. Interment Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery, 9125 Ladue Road. Donations in her memory are requested to the H. David Hartstein Flower Fund, Congregation Shaare Zedek, 829 N. Hanley Road, 63130, or the charity of your choice.
