My condolences to the family of Frank Eck, a student in my Sophomore English class at University City High School.
Perhaps not my most scholarly student, but always a good citizen in class.

I want to extend my condolences to the Eck family;and although we didn't run around together, we were friends, especially in Jr. High. When we had our 50th High School Reunion I tried to find him, but didn't. He was the type of guy that you don't forget: friendly, sincere, and kind. I recently sent out his Obituary to the Class of '57 U City High, and I received responses quickly. Barbara Ryba nee Canfield being one classmate.
I thought the Eck's would like to read their thoughts about Frank as follows:
buddy, this is the Frank we knew. he was class of 57, right? my husband rode cushman eagle scooters with Frank. I think they both had airborne models. my husband did read about him and yes he was red headed, always a flushed face, nice kid, quiet, and liked his motor scooters.

Thanks Buddy. Sorry to learn this news but it would be nice to know if he is 'the Frank Eck'. I remember him always riding his Cushman Eagle motor scooter (a Cadillac of scooters at that time). As I recall he got hit and broke a leg but returned to riding when well. Being two year younger, I didn't know him but he is certainly part of UC 'folklore'. Maybe his love for motor scooters led him into police work. I remember his Eagle since I owed a Cushman Pacemaker at age 14 needed to drive to work at Kiddyland Amusement Park on Page. I am happy you will be sending condolences and please note many have fond memories of Frank. All the best from your team mate, Eric Norman
And my neighbor Bob knew him from the Police Academy.
Frank will be missed by those who knew him.
I LOOKED INTO FRANK ECK'S PASSING, AND HE WAS MY CLASSMATE IN THE POLICE ACADEMY
HE SAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, ALPHABETAL ORDER. HIS DSN WAS 6145. AND MINE WAS 6144.
HIS PHOTOGRAPH AND INFORMATION IS ON SAINT LOUIS COPTALK.COM.

I was a good friend to Frank during high school and was just thinking about him the other day and wondering how he was doing. The last time I saw him was at a gas station in Brentwood, MO. He was on his way home from work as a St. Louis police officer. I was living in Brentwood at the time. It would have been around 1974 or so.
My condolences on your loss.
Barbara Ryba nee Canfield.

It saddens my heart to hear of Franks passing. we spent many enjoyable times together and I am happy to have known him. He made my life a little better and brighter and I am honored to have been considered by Frank as a "friend".
Rock, (phil)...Frank.....say hello to Mudford for me.....
