Charles Conway Obituary

Conway, Charles P. Chuck Sustained with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church and died in her arms on Monday, December 28, 2015. Beloved husband of Mary E. Betty (nee Quinn) Conway; loving father of Patricia (Anthony) Karre, Charles R. (Ann Dunsford) Conway, and John P. Conway. Proud grandfather of Elizabeth and AnnaGrace Conway and Nikita and Katya Karre; devoted brother to Jim Conway, Betty Kempland (dec.), George Conway (dec.), Virginia Mueller, Rita Kaczmarski, and Mary Thurman. Preceded in death by parents Amelia (nee Buchholz) and Charles F. Conway. Charlie attended De Andreis and Laboure High Schools, graduating Salutatorian, with a love for mathematics and playing football. He volunteered to serve in the Special Forces, the Green Berets, and subsequently the 82nd Airborne where he completed over 20 parachute jumps. Returning from the service, he resumed college and earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering from St. Louis University and Washington University, respectively. He continued to serve his country through 40 years of dedicated work and perfect attendance at McDonnell Douglas. At McDonnell Douglas he was a systems analyst and a lead engineer on the highly successful Harpoon Cruise Missile project (thousands of Harpoons remain actively deployed throughout the world) and several other critical projects. Charlie was a dedicated husband, father, grandpa, and faithful Catholic. His children recall that he never missed a single game, dance/piano recital, Boy Scout/Girl Scout or school eventnot one. He loved to fish and taught all of his children to love it as well. We feel blessed to have had such a wonderful father he will be forever missed. Services: Visitation Sunday, Jan. 3, from 3-6 pm at Stygar Florissant Chapel, 13980 New Halls Ferry Road, Florissant, MO 63033. Funeral Mass: Mon., Jan. 4th at 10:00 am at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Church, 2650 Parker Rd, Florissant, MO 63033. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers masses preferred.

In Charlie, we have lost a true gentleman. Low key by disposition, astute in life's necessities, rich in what matter's (family & faith). My deepest sympathy to Betty & Family. (I will miss our meetings together - his insight on life and his laugh).
