To the Family of Father Thomas,
I first met Father when I became a server at the Cathedral in 1963. Since that time we shared innumerable memories.
I was the server who lit the main altar cloth afire just prior to Fr. Tom going out to distribute Communion prior to Mass.
I also served the 530am Sunday Mass with him.
Our family moved to O'Fallon MO and I had the privilege to serve for him when Father was Chaplain for the Precious Blood Sisters.
In 1971, when I enlisted in the USAF, there was Fr. Tom again, to pick me up and take me on a brief tour of San Antonio. I think the fact that I went off base during basic training didn't bother him much because he told me not to worry "he knew a chaplain".
In 1978 our paths crossed again when I asked him to con-celebrate my marriage.
Finally, I saw him again for the last time last month. While it pained me to see him in his condition, it reminded me once again of what a true friend I had had through all these years.
I am very sad at his passing but I truly believe that he is in a much better place and his pain, suffering and discomfort are a thing of the past.
Eternal rest my friend, and let God's light shine on you now and forever.

To the THOMAS FAMILY:
Please know of the deepest prayerful sympathy of FRIENDS of PRIESTS of METRO ST. LOUIS on the passing of longtime St. Louis priest, pastor and canonist REV. DAVID T. THOMAS.
During his 60 years of priesthood, Fr. Thomas served many of the Catholic faithful and others in the Archdiocese with dedication, faithfulness and zeal in a variety of pastoral assignments.
He will be remembered in our organization's regular Masses during the year, which recall the lives and vocations of many of the priests, deacons, sisters, brothers and vowed laity who have served the Church and our Archdiocese in the course of their lives.
May God Grant Father Thomas happy Eternal Rest with Him, and may all of you be consoled. Be assured of our prayers at this time.
Sincerely,
Bernard Lewandowski, President
