Genevieve Dierberg Obituary

(nee: Faron), Genevieve Dierberg, age 107, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Nov. 19, 2013.
Beloved wife of 41 years of the late William F. Dierberg, loving mother of William C. (Mary) Dierberg, James F. (Mary) Dierberg and Robert J. (Sharon) Dierberg; cherished grandmother of W. Jeffrey (Birgit) Dierberg, Lisa (Steve) Breight, Mark Dierberg, Jennifer (Michael) O'Brien, Jim Dierberg II, Michael (JiaMin) Dierberg, Ellen (Mike) Milne, Greg (Susan) Dierberg, Brian Dierberg, Laura Dierberg (Jeff) Padousis; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren; our dear aunt, great aunt, and friend to many.
The daughter of French immigrants, Genevieve was born in Creve Coeur on Dec. 17, 1905. She grew up on a 40-acre farm at Ballas and Ladue Roads. She was baptized and received her first Communion at Creve Coeur's St. Monica Catholic Church, where she worshipped her entire life.
Married in October 1932, she raised three boys while her husband worked as a second-generation grocer and banker at the businesses known today as Dierbergs Markets and First Banks. Genevieve quickly became familiar with the family's retail and banking businesses, helping whenever needed while juggling roles as wife, mother and homemaker.
Genevieve filled her days and cherished her time spent with friends and family. Bridge was a passion; she earned the rank of Life Master. She enjoyed needlework, collecting and refurbishing antiques, growing her own fruits and vegetables, and canning the surplus of produce from her garden.
She will be remembered as an exceptional example of living life to the fullest, grounded by strong morals, faith and a loving family. Her sons and family would like to acknowledge Genevieve's caregivers for the thoughtful and dedicated care given to Genevieve in the final years of her life.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church, 12136 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur MO 63141 on Sat., Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. with burial service to follow at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica Catholic Church or charity of your choice.
