Dear Mr.& Mrs. Stallings & Sue & Family,
God Bless you and your family in your time of grief. I remember many summers when the Rosary High School soccer team played soccer in our back yard to get ready for the Fall season. My brother Johnny had all of the team play. They used orange cones as goals. It seemed they played almost everyday for hours. My mom would bring out jugs of juice and they would ask for more every fifteen minutes. They laughed and played and enjoyed each others company. I remember my Mother and I would say how can they take the heat and when are they going to go home? Billy, Chris Hundelt, the Cavanaugh brothers and the rest of the team would sit around our kitchen table full of sweat and laughing. They seemed to have a respect and friendship. It was a joy to watch the talent and love they had in High School for sports. The Milburn family will keep you in our prayers. With our Sympathy,
Susie & Jeff Wilson

Mr. and Mrs. Stallings and Suzie, My Mom and Dad told me about Billy's tragic death. My heart and prayers go out to you all. I, too, went to Our Lady of Loretto with him, and my brother Tim played soccer with him. I remember standing on the sidelines freezing year after year while the boys played soccer. I ran into him years later, still referring to him as "Billy". He laughed. I remember him always smiling. I'm very sorry for your loss-Chris Thieme Tucker (Phoenix, AZ)
Bill will always live in our heart...

Dear Bill, Alice & Sue,
I live in Wisconsin now and have not stayed in touch with old friends over the years, but Greg Fleher tracked me down yesterday to give me the awful news. I am so sorry you are going through such grief. Bill played soccer and life the same way: full of joy, laughter, energy, and without fear. I have been flooded with memories of enjoying all the times with Bill and your family. He will never be forgotten, and always remembered with a smile. I will be praying for all of you.

I knew Bill from Our Lady of Loretto and Rosary. Bill sure lived a full life in those 47 years; his ups and downs would be worthy of a play by Shakespeare. It is said that the great architect Christopher Wren does not have a tombstone in London, and that St. Paul's Cathedral is his true monument. And so I propose that any time any of us drive by the northeast corner of Kingshighway and Lindell, we should smile and say "hi" to Bill and his lasting legacy in St. Louis.

A poem by Henry Scott Holland ~ 1847-1918
"Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well."
With love and deepest sympathy from my family to yours.

When I first moved to the St Louis area, Bill made sure I felt at home by introducing me to many of his friends and including me in many of his plans. I had the pleasure of meeting his parents, who also had a way of making you feel totally at home. My heart goes out to them, and the rest of his family, may they be comforted in their loss...

Bill Alice,
I received the kindest letter in May from Bill. My husband had just passed away and he was so sorry he did not know until after the fact. I will cherish that letter because it meant so much to me at such a sad time in my life. It was so uplifting to me when he talked about when my son Chris and he and Jim Kavanaugh were young. We called them the three amigos. I treasure those memories and will never forget him .May God Bless him and let us all remember him in our prayers. So long Bill until we meet again.

Dear Bill Sr., Alice, and family
I am very sorry for your loss of Bill and I will miss him a lot. I hadn't seen him in a long time but the several years I worked for you I felt like part of the family and Bill was like another one of my big brothers and a mentor. He thought me a lot about business and that no dream is too big to go after. Bill could always find the good in something or somebody. He never gave up no matter what the challenge. I will keep you all in my prayers. Bill will be missed by all who know him and especially me.
Sincerely,
Dan Darmody
