Dear Lee,
So wonderful to talk with you yesterday, as we mark the first year without Jeffrey in our lives. I heard from Charles in Santa Fe, who was missing him as well on this day. Many wonderful memories of growing up with your son filled my mind this day. It was a beautiful clear day here in Afghanistan as I marked the first year since Jeff's passing. He and our Lord our waiting for us to finish our journey here on earth!!

Dear Mrs. Doubek, Bill, Steffan and Gabby,
Please accept my deepest sympathies. I was shocked to hear of Jeff's passing and it is with a saddened heart that I write this note. As he was best friends with my brother since childhood, I was fortunate to have known Jeff a long time and have so many fond memories of him growing up on 66th street. I will always remember his beautiful smile and infectious laugh. I feel fortunate to have spent time with Jeff over these past few years and enjoyed our visits. He always talked so highly of his children. Steffan and Gabby, Jeff loved you very much and always wanted you to be happy. Jeff was a great guy and will be missed! I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that Jeff has found peace and know that memories of him will be forever alive in my heart.

My deepest and sincere condolences go out to Mrs. Doubek, brother Bill, family and Jeffrey’s children.
I knew Jeffrey since we were very young boys where we had spent countless hours developing a cherished friendship that would last a lifetime. Although we had gone separate ways over the years, I feel very fortunate that we had reconnected in the last few years of his life, thank you Mrs. Doubek for helping that happen, as we were able to have many long telephone conversations laughing and recalling all the fond memories we had created over the four decades of our friendship.
I had no idea he would be taken from us so soon and it brings tears to my eyes thinking about it, but he will forever live in those wonderful memories. I hope he realized that he was loved by so many. I pray for his gentle, kind spirit and trust God will comfort all of us in our time of grief. Jeffrey will be missed dearly!

Mrs. Doubek, thank you for taking my call early last Sunday. Your son was my life long friend and I will miss him. It was my honor to love him like my brother for the past 42 years, the "Scout Brothers". There are so many wonderful memories growing up just up the street on 66th. He was a gentle kind soul and myself and all the Rusnacks are so very sorry for your loss. The Grace of God shines bright in those who believe. God's Grace, through the prism of your son, made all who knew Jeff smile at the mention of his name. May faith sustain you as you mourn his passing.

I am sorry and stunned to hear of Jeff's passing. I was also a college housemate along with Bill Bertram and Bloink and 7 others. I met Jeff as a freshman in college in 1980.
Well said, when you mention that he could laugh and relieve stress. I never had a disagreement with 'Dou'. I have not seen him for over a decade, I guess, but remember it like yesterday. The picture in the online guest book truly captures his essence..smiling eyes and a certain bit of introspection....
His essence will always be present among those of us who knew him at Quincy College, especially the "Fubar" guys...we will keep his spirit alive whenever we are together.
Until we meet again.....
Bill Bertram

My sincere condolences to you and your family. Jeff was also a friend of mine during our college days. I was his suite mate junior year and housemate senior year.
The best memory of Jeff that I have was his disposition. I don't believe I ever saw him angry. He was always even keeled, level headed and pleasant to be around. Jeff was truely the perfect friend. When life at Quincy College got stressful, Jeff was always smiling. He kept all of us centered. I will miss him a lot.
My family and I will keep you all and Jeff in our prayers.

Our deepest sympathies to the entire family. My wife and I went to college with Jeff at Quincy and he was a housemate of mine our senior year. He had THE best laugh and when he laughed, one couldn't help but laugh along with him. Please know you all are in our thoughts and prayers.
