Doris Baumgarten Obituary

Baumgarten, Doris Boos (Lazare) Doris H. Baumgarten, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at age 87 in St. Louis, MO. Doris is survived by her three children, Gaye (Louis) Appel, John (Debbie) Lazare and Paul (Mary) Lazare; seven grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Tomsula, Jason (Annette) Gerlitz Appel, Jennell Appel, Sarah Lazare, Philip (Liz), Maggie, Katie, and John Paspalas; six greatgrandchildren, Britney, Brooke and Bear Tomsula, Philip and Alexandra Paspalas and Taiya Marie Appel; sister-in-law Cappy Boos and her children Kitty Swanson, Bill (Sarah) Boos, Mary (Ben) Goodman, Danny (Terry) Boos. Doris was born on August 22, 1925 to the late Wilfred and Helen Boos of St. Louis, MO. She attended Little Flower grade school, Villa Duschene high school and Maryville College. Doris and her school girlfriends continued their friendships all these years and would meet for lunch on a monthly basis. Doris married Simon L. Baumgarten and they lived in Clayton, MO. Doris and Simon were avid St. Louis Blues fans and attended almost every home game at the St. Louis Arena. Doris gave back to her community by volunteering as treasurer and organizing numerous fundraisers for the Lasky Cleft Palette Center. She loved entertaining, cooking and gardening. Doris also had many pets but her favorite is her precious yorkie Tillie. Following Simon's death in 2001, she moved to a condominium in Shrewsbury where she lived independently until her passing. Doris's strong faith and ever positive attitude was an inspiration to her family and friends alike. Her warm, loving, gracious and fun loving approach to life was uplifting to everyone that knew her and is greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. Services: Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Visitation at Little Flower Church, 1264 Arch Terrace in Richmond Heights, MO from 9:30 AM until the start of Mass at 10 AM. Interment at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Flower School, 1275 Boland Place, Richmond Heights, MO 63117.

To Gaye,Paul, John and the rest of the clan, I'm so sorry to hear that your Mom passed away. She was an integral part of our family for many years and always a joy to be with. We will all miss her sunny disposition and wonderful smile. My sincere condolences to all of you.

I'm so sorry to hear that Doris has died. I remember her fondly from our days at Annunciation (where our children attended grade school together). She was alot of fun and always laughing. We spent many nights playing Canasta with Faye, Ruthie and Nita. My deepest sympathy to her family.

My heart is so saddened...I have never met such a positive person in all my years. Doris was an inspiration to me as well as a wonderful friend, she made me laugh so much!
