“Richie” was my Swimming mentor at TMR Boy Scout Camp and influenced me to become an active American Red Cross swimming and lifesaving instructor for many years.
I thank him and miss him dearly.

Hard to believe that five years have passed since we lost Pastor Manus. I remember fondly our conversations about many topics, when I was a graduate student at Texas A&M in the early 1990s. I shall always remember Pastor as one of my favorite people in my life.

I was thinking about Pastor Manus just the other day. He was one of my favorite people at Texas A&M when I was a student there. He always had time for you. Pastor Manus would always say just the right thing, no matter what your story, concern, worry, or success was. I still miss him a lot.

Are there any photos of Richie I could view? I could also add a great photo of him when he was my Camp Director at Ten Mile River Boy Scout Camp in 1967. Thanks, Cliff Schwartz: [email protected]
Rich gave me a love of aquatics that lasted, and is still with me, all my life. I think of him every time I still swim.

I had the privilege of knowing Rich through scouting in Glendale, NY. A great guy with a very unique sense of humor. Rich and I along with our buddies sharing a "pitcher " on a Friday night was alway a time for laughter and a great time. Always, a friend.

We are saddened to hear yesterday of Pastor's passing. Prayers for peace for Alice and all of the Manus family. We are thankful for Pastor's guidance while we attended Immanuel in Barnhart, MO, and for confirming our two children. Pastor is in his eternal home.

As a seminary classmate of "Dick" Manus, I appreciated the opportunity to have some contact with him in recent years in the St. Louis area. He was a gracious witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry was enhanced by a delightful sense of humor, compounded by his strong Bronx accent that his sojourn in the South never diminished.
My prayer is that the message of Advent that he proclaimed will bring peace, comfort and joy to his family and friends!

Dear Alice and Family,
I attended the Lutheran Chapel at A&M from Fall 1990 to Summer 1992. Pastor Manus was one of my favorite and most respected of people in all of A&M. He was a man of deep knowledge and insight, and of the highest integrity in everything he did.
I was just at A&M visiting the campus and the Bush Library during what would become Pastor's final weekend. I returned home on that Monday, a magnificent day here in Texas. I never imagined.
I shall always remember Pastor Doctor Richard Manus with the greatest fondness.

Dear Manus Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your husband and dad.
Pastor Manus' ministry, and the community he built at the A&M Chapel, was an incredible influence on me. I showed up one Wednesday my freshman year in desperate search of something better than Sbisa for dinner, and five years later all of my closest friends were people I met through chapel. His friendship with Norb Firnhaber even led me to meet a girl from UT, and we celebrated our 18th anniversary the day before Pastor Manus passed away. We now have three kids of our own.
I hope you have many happy memories of the years you shared with Richard. Thank you for sharing a few of those years with many of us.
I've included a link to a few pictures I've found of Pastor Manus. A couple are from a mission trip to Brownsville around 1993, and the others are from our wedding in November 1997.
Our prayers are with all of you.
Yours in Christ,
Jason (TAMU '96) and Vicki (Meehleib, UT '95) Awbrey

Pr. Manus preached Christ crucified for sinners every week at ULC and always pointed us to Christ in the sacraments. He was my Pastor for two years (1991/92) and married me and my wife. We will always remember him fondly and look forward to an eternal reunion with him around Christ our savior.
Blessings to the Manus family during this difficult time.

Richard was the most kind compassionate and best friend Bob and I could have. He had a most infectious smile. He truly loved and respected my sister Alice and my parents. To us that was most important. He will be sorely missed; however, God has chosen to call him home. He has surely gained his crown in Heaven.

I have many pleasant memories of Pastor Richard Manus from the time he served in campus ministry at Texas A&M. I served at the Catholic campus ministry center nearby. He was always an exemplary Christian gentleman and a respectful fellow minister. You are all in my prayers.

My sincere condolences. Though I did not attend Texas A&M, I would often visit my friends there and attend chapel. He was a postive influence in my life, and am thankful for knowing him.
