My beautiful Mom and me
Ruth Bowie
April 10, 2016
My Mom was nothing short of amazing. From my earliest memory, she involved me in everything. When I learned to walk, she let me push my stroller around the neighborhood. She wasn't particularly thrilled with my love of climbing or other scary things for Moms but I had a surprising amount of freedom to explore, which was and is my favorite avocation.
She was incredibly talented in many areas. The theatre was a large part of our lives. She not only performed but directed, built sets, made costumes, did make up, lighting, adapted and wrote plays, made the programs, wrote music and did the special effects (who can forget her blowing cigarette smoke through a chimney?).
When I was very young, she made and sold slipcovers to earn money. She did carpentry, plumbing, gardening, while raising four kids. In addition, she made a lot of our clothes.
My Mom was an accomplished artist. She also made quilts, knitted, crocheted and did beautiful cross stitch.
She loved being a Mom and never let us forgot how much we were loved, even when we were more than a handful. She welcomed our friends and encouraged our individual interests....as long as we were also in the plays. She was amazingly patient but firm. She took us on adventures and allowed us to really enjoy just being kids.
My Mom gave her life to Jesus when I was 4 years old. She taught us about the Lord, read the Word to us and taught us hymns. Like many of us who love Jesus, she had a life long struggle with being "anxious for nothing" but she loved Him and always wanted to bring Him glory. She always served in the Churches she attended, using the talents He gave her to serve and help others.
When I came to the Lord, I found I not only had an incredible Mom but a wonderful friend and sister in the Lord. We loved sharing about Jesus and praying together. It was some of the richest experience I had. What an incredible legacy she gave me and I'm so looking forward to serving our Lord together with her forever!
Love you so much Mom! Ruthie

Ginni was a very dear friend. We met at Northside Christian Church - Disciples of Christ. She was an active member. I remember singing in her Christmas plays and in the choir with her. Ginni was on the Christian Hospital Auxiliary and bowled on the league with the same name. I really respected Ginni for her intelligence and creativity. I will always remember Ginni. My loving condolences to the entire family.
