Georgia Zutter Obituary
Zutter, Georgia Nell left this earthly home peacefully on August 18th to join her family and friends who awaited her in heaven. To her family she was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Aunt (a.k.a. Aunt Elfie), Grandmother and GreatGrandmother. To her friends she was a true woman of style and grace. She was born in 1931 to John Lylle Carpenter and Georgia Arleta Carpenter in East St. Louis, IL. She left at the age of 18 for what she called the biggest adventure of her life when she went to help her sister Betty and husband, Alex, during the birth of their second child in Lima, Peru. It was there she met the love of her life, Louis Zutter, who asked her to join him in building a loving marriage that lasted 48 years. Theirs was a life that truly embodied the saying, live well, laugh often, and love much. Louis preceded her in death in 1999 followed by her sisters Martha Jean Nugent and Beulah Elizabeth Laurie. When pressed to talk about her life she said, Louis and I were truly blessed. We raised three beautiful daughters, and had the good fortune to have cherished and long-lasting friends who walked along with us through life. As for me, I had a husband who adored me and introduced me to a world of culture and beauty through travel and a vast array of interesting people. I've flown the Concord, dined with Chef Paul Bocuse, and had a Coco Channel dress all my own - what more could a girl ask for?. Along with her sophistication and joie de vivre, she held strongly to her mid-western values and her immense and abiding faith in the Lord. She is survived by her three loving daughters and their spouses; Pamela Zutter-Brock (husband Bruce), Deborah Zutter (partner Alice Williams), and Diana Scranton (husband Conrad). Her three grandchildren; Christina Scranton, Nicole Scranton-Wright (husband Andy), and Eric Zutter-Brock. Five great grandchildren; Amaliyah, Drew, CJ, Wesley and Mary Elizabeth. Three nieces; Bea Eden (husband Cles), Ann Warren (husband Peter), and Jill Kopjas. Six nephews; Andy Zutter (wife Maya), John Zutter (wife K.K.), Jay Laurie (wife Bev), Alain Zutter (wife Renee), Paul Zutter, and Bernard Zutter (wife Rochi), and 16 great nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and prayed for daily. She was a member of: Bonhomme Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lima Women's Chorale (Peru), American Literary Society of Peru, and former member of the Union Church (Peru). Her vast interests included bridge, cooking, reading, flower arranging, theater, opera, and music. She lived her belief that, we are called to give more than we receive and supported several local charities including the Chesterfield YMCA, St. Louis Botanical Gardens, and the St. Louis Symphony. She also continued to support various charities in Peru. While she would have objected to the length of this epitaph, hers was a life that was simply too special to have done anything less. Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27th at 2 p.m. at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church, 14820 Conway Rd., Chesterfield, MO 63017 In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the Chesterfield, MO YMCA or the Peruvian American Medical Society (PAMS).
