Sally James Obituary

James, Sally 74, of Batavia, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 peacefully at her home. She was born January 30, 1939 in Aurora, the daughter of George and Sarah (nee Smith) Ridley. She was united in marriage to Bob James on September 27, 1958 in Aurora. Sally was a proud graduate of West Aurora High School, class of 1957. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid volunteer for her two daughters clubs and activities. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She loved her monthly trips to the riverboat casinos. She belonged to a monthly Bunco group with friends and neighbors. She was a loving grandmother who looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid basketball fan. She is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Karen (Dave) Harvey of Oswego and Debbie (Charles) Berns of Geneva; four grandchildren, Jenny (Ryan) Scroggins, Jimmy Harvey, Amber (Pat Cox) Olson, and Justin Olson; one step-granddaughter, Tracy (Ron) Lugay; two great-granddaughters, Abby Scroggins and Joslynn Cox; a brother, George (Colleen) Ridley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., in Batavia. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Batavia VFW, 645 S. River St., in Batavia following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Dreams Passages, 515 Warrenville Road, Lisle, IL 60532.
