Bernard Smoot Obituary
1928 ~ 2015
Long Beach
Bernard Thomas Smoot, age 87 and a resident of Long Beach, died on Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Gulfport.
He had been a resident of Long Beach since 1968 and was a member of the Catholic faith. Mr. Smoot retired after 20 years of service with the United States Air Force and then he retired after 20 more years of service with the United States Postal Service.
Mr. Smoot was preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas and Etta French Smoot and eleven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Thelma Smoot of Long Beach; his daughters, Dana (Richard) Black of Long Beach and Theresa (Richard) Smith of Homestead, FL; his grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Lauren, and Renee; his brother, Arthur Smoot of Flint Hill, VA and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 6pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
