Leona Marie Richard Burleson

Mrs. Leona Marie Richard Burleson, age 68, resident of Kiln, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at home with her family by her side.

Mrs. Burleson was born in Opelousas, LA to Elvin J. and Anna Lee Gonor Richard. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln, where she worked for the Kiln Water Department as a clerk for 17 years. She was an avid Bunco player, playing with the same group since 1971.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Elvin Joseph Richard, Jr.; and her grandson, Michael Gallion.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, George E. Burleson; her 5 children, Robert Gallion (Belinda), David Burleson, Tom Burleson (Beth), Roger Burleson (Janet), Casey Crose (Allen); her sisters, Becky Duewerth (Robert), Betty Ann Dyson (Ricky), Patricia "Diane" Bernard (Pat); her brothers, William Richard (Denise), Charles Richard, John Richard (Pat); her grandchildren, Shannon, Robbie, Haley, Chip, Tracy, T.J., Tricia, Blaine, Whitney, Dale, Scott, and Heather; her 7 great grandchildren and 5 expected great grandchildren in 2011.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln-DeLisle Road, from 6-10 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Annunciation Catholic Church, at 2 p.m. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Chip, T.J., Blaine, Scott, Kenny, and Casey, Timmy, and Robert.

Burial will follow at Bayou CoCo Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Bert Chevis, Dr. David Rimmer, Dr. Dale LeBlanc, the nurses and staff at Hancock Medical Center, and St. Joseph Hospice from Picayune.
