Karl Adamian Obituary

Adamian, Karl H., beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Wednesday evening, May 11, 2011. He was 74. Karl was a resident of the Coconut Creek area for 40 years. He was born in Webster, Massachusetts on April 26, 1937. He was a graduate of Boston Technical High School, whose senior quote was "Manners make the man". His love of learning inspired him to continue his studies , taking classes at West Chester College in Pennsylvania, M.I.T. and Harvard in Massachusetts. He later attended Broward College to earn his degree in business. Karl was an accomplished musician who played both saxophone and sang Barbershop Quartet in a group named the "Exits" in Worcester, MA. naming themselves such because "they wanted to see their names in lights!". Karl moved to Florida with his young family in 1967. He opened his own upholstery business, Charlese Upholstery, named for his daughters, Charlene and Lisa, in 1977. His business was a success not only because of his talent, but because he was an extraordinary man. He made friends in business that became friends for life. Karl was blessed with a kidney transplant, "Philip", in 1996. He was given this special gift at Jackson Memorial hospital, in Miami, by a team of dedicated physicians and staff led by his surgeon, Dr. Gaetano Ciancio. Karl volunteered his time and heart to "Donate Life", and to "The Tiger Transplant Fund", an organization dedicated to assisting "Kids in Distress" and "Transplant Kids" and their families. He was an active member of The Knights of Columbus and a retired chaplain's assistant with the United States Army. Karl's greatest source of pride was his family. His joy was being with his wife, Charlotte and their daughters, Charlene and Lisa. He and Charlotte started his business together, traveled extensively, and enjoyed married life for 48 years. Karl was a loving and devoted father, sharing his talents and knowledge with both of his daughters. He continued to share these gifts with his grandchildren. He was so proud of his family! Karl taught us all to love, to forgive, and to appreciate life every single day. He made us all want to be better people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Karl is survived by his wife, Charlotte nee Novino; his daughters, Charlene (Saad) El-Hage and Lisa (Gene) Nardi; his beloved grandchildren; Brianna, Gregory, Amanda and Monica; his sister, Katherine Barry; and many other family and friends who loved him. Visitation: Monday, May 16, from 6 tp 9 p.m. Rosary at 7:30 at Forest Lawn North, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064 (954)-784-4000.
