Andrew Tommers Obituary

Tommers Tommers, Andrew (Bodie) Bodie passed away peacefully on April 17 with his family by his side. He was born in Connecticut on 1/31/24 and was a Yale graduate. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He married the late Susan Traub Tommers and started his family in Milford, CT. In 1953 they moved with their 2 small daughters Stephanie (Anastasia) and Susan to Pompano Beach. His son Drew and daughter Meg were born in Florida. He was with Zinke-Smith/Devcon for 41 years and lived in the Virgin Islands with his wife, the late Carol Erskine, for much of that time. He was exceptionally strong-willed and determined, and wanted to make sure everyone around him was doing well. He was an intelligent man with a witty sense of humor who loved to cook and go to the grocery store. He was known for his cookies and rum cake. He lived at John Knox Village for many years and was a proud charter member of The Villagers, a men?s chorus. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Anastasia Furst and Susan Tommers of Pompano Beach, son Drew (Robin) Tommers of Lighthouse Point, daughter Meg (John) Gabriel of Ohio, 3 grandchildren (Megan, Lauren, John Andrew), his companion Dorothy Norton and many relatives and friends. He loved his family and they will miss him dearly. Memorial service at John Knox Chapel at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 28.
