Mildred Nolan Obituary

Nolan Nolan, Mildred passed away peacefully with family at her side on May 22, 2011, at the age of 82. Mildred was born in Queens, NY, in 1929, the only child of Betty and Joseph Geiger. Mildred had determination and intelligence in equal measures. Upon graduation from Hunter College School of Nursing, she began her nursing career ministering to the needs of cancer and burn patients at Bellevue Hospital, where her steady hands and caring heart eased the suffering of many patients and their families. While serving at Bellevue, she met and fell in love with a young cancer researcher/physician, the late Dr. Raymond Nolan. The couple married in 1956, and moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1960. Mildred helped Ray establish his ob-gyn practice, and supporting him in every way over the years as his medical career flourished. After their sons left home, Mildred enthusiastically began a new career as a realtor, achieving record sales and service awards and loving every minute of it. Mildred worked in real estate for more than 20 years, eventually retiring from Prudential Florida Realty to spend more time with Ray. In their later retirement years, the two divided their time between Fort Lauderdale and Asheville, North Carolina. The close marriage Mildred and Ray enjoyed for over 50 years ended with his death last Autumn. Widely adored and admired, Mildred Nolan was a devoted wife, a loving mother and doting grandmother, and a true, generous friend. Mildred is survived by her son Robert and his partner Scott; son Ken and daughter in-law Christina; grandchildren, Kailey, Caroline, and Jack; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rory and Betty Nolan, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Her life will be celebrated privately; in lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Joe Dimaggio Childrens Hospital Foundation in Hollywood, Florida.

Our deepest sympathy to the Nolan family. Mildred loved each of you so much. I so enjoyed working with her at Jalmark. Our desks were next to each other and we shared so many good times. She taught me a lot about real estate. She was a pro.
