Dr. Clifford A. Lakin

Clifford A. Lakin, M.D. passed away on October 29, 2016 from complications of Lewy body dementia. Dr. Lakin was born at St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach. He graduated from Miami Beach Senior High, Duke University, and Vanderbilt Medical School. He trained as a resident in NYC at Jacobi Medical Center, and completed his residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach. He served two years in the USAF in Del Rio, TX, at Laughlin AFB post-residency followed by a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. He was a general and trauma surgeon in Broward County since 1977, where he was a member of the Broward County Medical Association, the Ft. Lauderdale Surgical Society, and served as Chief of the Medical Staff at Imperial Point Medical Center. Dr. Lakin is survived by his wife Arlene Hechter Lakin and his children, Gregory Lakin, M.D., Cara Lakin McCallister (Jon), and Douglas Lakin. He is also survived by his sister Edith Zimbel (Richard) from Irvine, CA. Funeral services will be conducted on Tues, Nov 1st at 10 AM at Temple Bat Yam, 5151 NE 14th Terr. in Ft. Lauderdale. Burial and military service follows at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th St in Miami. Shivah memorial service will be at the family home in Ft. Lauderdale following the burial.
