George Manolakis Obituary

Manolakis, George, 81, of Tamarac, FL, passed away on June 19, 2011 surrounded by his family. George was born in NY, NY on September 9, 1929 and relocated to Coral Springs, FL in 1973. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Vasila; a daughter Melody (Gus) Manolakis-Jones; a son Jordan Manolakis; a sister Diane (John) Pangarliotas; three nieces: Jeanne, Johanna, Stacy; and a nephew, Jimmy. A visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2011, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. at Babione Funeral Home, 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 24 at St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 NW 51st Street, Boca Raton, FL, 33431. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to St.Mark Greek Orthodox Church. www.babionesouthflorida.com.

George had such a wonderful sense of humor and also a big sweet tooth! My favorite memory of him is when Melody had him call me on the phone on St. Patrick's Day (I am very Irish) and he spoke to me in a leprechaun voice. I LOVED IT!!!

I also would laugh at how early he would remind everyone that his birthday is only 30 days away....20 days away....10 days away...etc.

What a wonderful man who was so proud of his family! God Bless him!
