Sheldon Schachter

Sheldon Schachter Esq.,86, of Boca Raton, FL; formerly of Livingston, NJ died on Thursday December 25, 2014 at his home. He was born in Newark, NJ and enlisted in the Navy during WWII at the age of 18. After being discharged he attended Rutgers University and NYU Law School. Mr. Schachter was a partner in the law firm of Kleinberg, Moroney, Masterson and Schachter where he specialized in bankruptcy law and corporate reorganization. In later years he opened up his own law firm in Livingston. Sheldon was a member of Delaire Country Club in Delray, FL and Cedar Hill Country Club in Livingston, NJ where he served as president. After his retirement from law at the young age of 79, Sheldon fulfilled one of his lifelong goals of becoming an author. In his eighties he wrote and published two legal mysteries which he was very proud of. Sheldon is survived by his wife, Helene (Newman) Schachter, to whom he was married to for 55 wonderful years; his daughter Lesley Laurita and her husband Tom of East Hanover, NJ; his daughter Robin Kronk and her husband Tim of Morris Township, NJ; and his five grandchildren, David Helderman, Michael Helderman, Erika Kronk, Hunter Kronk and Olivia Laurita. He is predeceased by his parents Anna and Morris and his brother Robert. Services will be held at the Cedar Park Cemetery, Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah Mausoleum, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ on Sunday December 28 at 11:30am.
