Charles Miller Obituary

Charles R. Miller, Jr. Charles R. Miller, Jr., 87, of Tallahassee passed away July 18, 2010. A native of Brunswick, GA , he attended grade school in Tampa and St. Petersburg and was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School. He attended City College of New York and voluntarily served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He saw combat service during the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He attended the University of Florida where he was a member of the Sigma Tau engineering society and earned the BCE degree in 1950. He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation for 35 years. He was a member of numerous veteran's organizations including Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and was a life member of the Seventy-Fifth Division Veteran's Association. His professional organizations included the Transportation Research Board and the International Bridge Tunnel and Turnpike Association. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Lane Miller; son, Charles Raymond Miller, III; daughter, Mary Howell; son in law, Jim Howell; daughter in law, Cathy Puett Miller;and grandsons, Tyler Harper Howell and Charles Miller, IV. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. EDT, Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
