Rayfield Pandley Obituary
Rev. Rayfield Levy Pandley, Sr., 88, retired pastor of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Tallahassee, FL. Funeral services will be 11 AM EDT, Sat., June 11 at New Mt. Zion A.M.E Church with burial at Southside Cemetery in Tallahassee. Wake service will be Fri., June 10 from 6 - 7:30 PM at Fountain Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Rev. Pandley was a native of Jacksonville, FL and a longtime resident of Tallahassee. Along with his dedication to God and the African Methodist Espiscopal Church he enjoyed masonary work, photography, fishing and playing tennis. He was also one of the first black mail carriers in Leon County.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 48 years, 179 days, Margie M. Pandley; two sons, Rayfield L. Pandley, Jr. of Dallas, TX and Raymond L. Pandley (Tracie) of Tallahassee; one daughter The Reverend Raynetta L. Pandley, of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Brittney S. Boykins and Rayah Tra'anna Pandley; two grandsons, Raymond Larkin Pandley II, Rayme Traymond Pandley all of Tallahassee; three sisters-in-law, Albertha Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Esther H. Moland of Ashville, NE and Kathryn Moland of Tallahassee; one goddaughter, Alexandra Sharilyn Delores James of Tallahassee and a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends.

Mrs. Pandley, Raymond, and Rev. Raynetta,
You have my prayers and deepest sympathy. I have the fondest memories of your husband and father during the time he served as pastor of Little Bethel A.M.E. Church. My siblings, grandfather and I were baptized by Rev. Pandley on the same Sunday after giving our lives to God during a revival. I also preached my very first sermon during a youth Sunday under Pastor Pandley’s guidance and encouragement. A seed was planted in my life. Rev. Pandley encouraged us (young people) to serve God and actively participate in various ministries—choir, ushers, Sunday School, etc. I am thankful that God sent Rev. Rayfield L. Pandley to Little Bethel A.M.E. Church in Perry, Florida. He will always be remembered.
