Randall Buchanan Obituary

Randall Buchanan PINETTA - Randall Buchanan, 60, a school principal, died Thursday, June 26, 2003. The service will be at 3 p.m. EDT Sunday at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel (973-2258). The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Mission Fund, 570 N.E. Cosmos Drive, Pinetta, FL 32350 or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. A lifelong resident of Pinetta, he retired as principal of Pinetta Elementary School, where he taught and coached basketball, football, softball, physical education and drove a school bus for a number of years. He coached Little League baseball and farmed. In 1976 he was elected superintendent of schools for Madison County, where he served for 12 years. As a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, he was an active lay leader, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Haiti mission team. He was devoted to helping and teaching all children and was especially devoted to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Buchanan of Pinetta; a son, Randy Buchanan (and wife Kim) of Pinetta; a daughter, Beth Moore (and husband Theron) of Pinetta; three brothers, Gale Arlon Buchanan of Athens, Ga., Bobby Joe Buchanan and Dan Buchanan, both of Pinetta; and four grandchildren, Jacob Moore, Joshua Moore, Allison Buchanan and Molly Buchanan.

Betty,
You know how I feel about you and Randall. I am so very sorry. Randall was a man that made a dfference, Randall will certainly be missed by those who loved & cared for him. God has his arms around you Betty, he has your family surrounded. You are such a remarkable woman & I know your faith will get you through this very sorrowful time. I know that God is with you every step of the way. Randall is now with his creator and he's watching over us now. We will miss him, he was a an exceptional man. He was a champion of a man. Randall, those who believe, will see you again & this is just your homecoming. Rest is the arms of Jesus. We will watch after Betty & you do the same. God Bless the Buchanan family.

To Randall's family and friends in Madison County: I worked in the Madison County School system in the mid-90s and Randall's love of those Pinetta children was legendary. He was an incredible advocate for kids and a great witness for his faith. May God richly bless his survivors.
