Winfred "Wimpy" Alexander, Imagine my shock and dismay while trying to locate you online. I came across your obituary, We became good friends the day I met you in 1979 as a brand new 2lt in the 3rd Battalion. We hung out a lot, and our friendship became strong. You even talked me into going to the advanced course early so we could attend at the same time. I often think about our fishing trip in Langrange, GA where we caught almost 200 crappie. I remember when you took me home to Tallahassee on a fishing trip where you were catching fish on one side of the boat and I couldn't catch a thing, and when we switched sides, the same thing happened. I also remember the last time we saw each other in 1987. I had a meeting in Jackson, MS, and drove down to Lowman, MS, to give you a visit at Alcorn. After the Gulf War, we lost touch. You were a good friend and mentor. Sleep well, Wimpy!

I am shocked and completed devastated to discover that my old Army buddy "Wimpy" has gone on to be with the Lord. We were Lts in the same battalion at Fort Campbell, went to school together, fishing buddies and I even went to Tallahassee with him to fish. I lost track after he left Alcorn. When I googled to find him I never expected this. Rest in Peace my friend.

He was a man that wanted to serve a cause greater than himself. I tried to look him up several times over the years. Blessings to his family. I look forward to seeing him again.

I just learned on today of MAJ Alexander's passing. I knew him as CPT Alexander while a scholarship cadet at ASU. Although the consummate soldier, his smile and kind spirit seemed to dispel the stereotype many have of a military professional.

I sit here typing this with tears in my eyes as I reminisce on my days in the program. "CPT Alexander" would call on or encourage me in class or on an exercise; and I could rest assured he was going to let me know just how he felt about my performance. I could often tell his approval or disapproval simply by the way he said, "Nightingale." (No one else said it the way he did.)

Though I have not seen him since I left Alcorn, just knowing his presence and compassion will no longer be in the world will certainly leave a void in it.

To the Alexander Family: I pray God strengthens you and fills MAJ's void with His Love.

MAJ Alexander: May you rest in peace, Sir.

I have just learned of Wimpy's passing, having looked for him many times through the years. He and I were cadets together at UF Army ROTC. I used to give him rides home during long weekends and other school breaks. I met his mother, who was so kind to me. Wimpy and I lost touch after I left school. Nevertheless, as I moved through my Army career, I got wind of his stellar military career--I had no doubt! He was a most special, kind, gentle heart. A true GENTLEMAN--I have never known better.

Our world has lost a great, great man.

May the peace of God that passes all understanding encamp around you and take residence in you during this time of bereavement. May the Comforter, which is His spirit hold you, counsel you and walk you through each day and night as your healing process takes place.
Only God can fully understand your pain, disappointment, confusion, and yes, even your anger, etc. And only God can assure you that you will come through this. Just trust Him...I believe in Him.
My prayers are with all of you!
The joy of the Lord is your strength.
