Ben and my father David Boyd had known each other since PHS and were friends. When I was young Ben would come to our house for dinner on occasion. He taught me how to play chess. As I recall, he had won some competitions. I have very fond memories of him from that time. I would see him on the rare occasion when I was in the area and stop by the convenience store where he hung out. It was so nice to see him on those occasions and reminisce over a couple of Cokes. I am so glad Ben is with the Lord and enjoying his new body! I look forward to seeing him again in Glory! Nelson Boyd

I still think of Benny even though it is 2020. Whenever I need a boost, all I have to do is remember Benny and the good old days in the fifties and I feel great afterwards. I loved visiting him and his mom and grandmother. It made my day. He also had a dad that used a ham radio and I really liked that. It was noisy and shot out a little spark every time it started but I got a kick out of it anyway. God bless him always......

There are certain special people who touch our lives and our hearts in some way that is unforgettable. Benny was one of those people for me and my family. I only just learned today that he had passed away and I feel so sad that he is not here anymore to love and inspire us. I know he is with Jesus and has been welcomed home with open arms, so I am not sad for him. But I hope that everyone whose lives he touched will allow his memory to continue to inspire and encourage them. When my grandmother died several years ago, I happened to pick up an extension in the house and it was Benny, calling for my mom, because he had heard that my grandmother had died and he wanted my mom to know what a great lady he thought she was and to give his condolences. It took him about 12 minutes to get it all out, but he did and it was so precious. I ran into him in the convenience store a few years ago and told him about my family and that I would bring my children in to meet him but I never did. I know it would have made him so happy and meant so much to him. He was always so interested and invested in other people's lives. I will never feel sorry for myself ever, ever again as long as I remember Benny and how he loved people and his community in spite of his handicap. You had cerebral palsy, but it never had you. God bless you and thank you for the wonderful sermon that was your life. I hope you are enjoying heaven and that your joy is now full.

The picture of Benny is one I had in an old album. I am glad that I could share it and hope people will copy it and put it in their albums. I remember taking it when I was a teen. I have kept it all these years.

I didn't even know him. I live in Ohio and I read about him in a California newspaper. But just reading his story is an inspiration to me. His life is an inspiration for overcoming obstacles. Thanks for sharing him.

I remember Benny when I was a kid. I used to talk to him at his home many times. Even though I have not lived in Tampa for decades, I remember Benny as if it were yesterday. He has been a blessing in my life.

My Darling Benny ...
I treasure the memories I have of you during the many years I was a member of the Bayshore Baptist Church. You were an inspiration to us all. I also remember the many times I would come and visit you in your home - and also the times I would pick you up and take you to our home to join a fellowship in our back garden on Leona.
I treasure our friendship ... and look forward to living next door to you when it is my time to go home.
Love... Sheila Gardiner-Geddings

Benny was a part of my life growning up and continued into my adult years..I would purposly frequent the local convenient store just to stop and say hello to him. Having a difficult time knowing what to write. I remember Bennie from when I was a toddler. My mother used to take care of him. I remember his smile and how excited he was to see us after we moved away. I will miss him.

Benny was well known to the PHS Panthers. His presence at the Lil General Store made him a fixture in the Palma Ceia community. I have always thought of him as I drove past the store. Be at Peace!
