Richard TALMADGE Obituary

TALMADGE, Richard C.

"Dick" Born Nov. 13, 1924 and died Nov. 9, 2015 in the Hospice Unit at the Bay Pines VA Hospital. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary. He is survived by his sons, Jeffery Talmadge (Marla) of LIttleton, CO, Phillip Talmadge of Safety Harbor and daughter, Barbara O'Rear (Wally) of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Josh Talmadge and Mehgan O'Rear. He is also survived by his loving wife of 7 years Dianne and her children and grandchildren. Dick was raised in Indiana and like so many of his generation did, joined the Army when WWII broke out. He took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He was wounded in Northern France, spent eleven months in many hospitals and was awarded the Purple Heart. He returned to Purdue University after the war and received his engineering degree. Dick moved his family to Florida in 1958 where he went to work for Honeywell where he retired after thirty years as Plant Manager. He served as Board Pres. of his Harbouside Condo Assn. for fourteen years and sat on the board for the city of Pasadena for many years. Dick loved to travel, swim, play tennis and bridge and was a whiz on his Mac computer. He was a soft spoken, humble man, and a true gentleman. He will be interred at The Bay Pines National Cemetery in a private service at a later date with Full Military Honors. He requested no funeral, and in lieu of flowers donations to your favorite charity. Another of our greatest generation is now at rest.
