George Hayes Obituary

George Robert Hayes, 83, died June 3, 2011, at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville. George was born in Burlington, Ky., and lived in Homosassa, coming from Jefferson City, Tenn., Fort Pierce and Ivey, Ga. Before retirement, he worked for the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority for 30 years, where he became the superintendent of electrical distribution. He was a Navy Sea Bees veteran of World War II in the Pacific. He was a member of American Legion Post 40 of Fort Pierce and the Dixie Senior Golf Association in Georgia. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Louise Hayes of Homosassa; sons, Ralph L. Hayes of Homosassa and George H. Hayes; sisters, Doris Snoddy of Charlotte, N.C., and Mary Ellen Etheridge of Fort Pierce; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Hayes; and sister, Jayne Baker Woolard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans Associations, Suite #7, 6285 Pearl Road, Parma Heights, OH 44130. Services: A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. June 9 at Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa.
