Gertrude M. Schindler

Gertrude M. Schindler, 83, died May 19, 2011, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart. She was born in Jamaica, N.Y., and lived in Jensen Beach for 11 years, coming from Valley Cottage, N.Y. Before retirement, she was a hairdresser for more than 30 years in Valley Cottage and a secretary for Marine Midland Bank in Nyack, N.Y., for 10 years. She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach. Survivors include her sons, Joseph Schindler of Stuart and Edmund Schindler of Fairfield, Conn.; sister, Joan Ecker of Jensen Beach; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Schindler Sr. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.
