Lawrence Corfey Obituary

Lawrence R. Corfey, Sr., 74, of Hillside Village, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Jeanne M. (Kimmerling) Corfey; one daughter, Denise Pirhala and her husband Richard of Southbury, CT; five sons, Lawrence R. Corfey, Jr. and his wife Jacqueline of Virginia Beach, VA, Russell Corfey and his wife Mandy of Clinton, Brian Corfey and his wife Tina of Virginia Beach, VA, David Corfey of Charleston, SC and Raymond Corfey and his wife Lynn of West Brookfield; two brothers, Edwin Corfey of Southbury, CT and William Corfey of Bethel, PA; one sister, Florence Gill of Mashpee, MA; 22 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was born and grew up in Bridgeport, CT son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Leibscher) Corfey and later lived in Indiana, Worcester and Virginia Beach before moving to Ware 5 years ago. He was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, CT. Mr. Corfey worked for 30 years in the grocery business as a produce specialist before retiring in 1996 from Shaw Supermarkets.

A Funeral Service for Lawrence will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 2:30 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Callings hours will be held prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guardian Hospice of Massachusetts, Inc., 8 Central St., West Brookfield, MA 01585.

dear jeanne and family...i was deeply saddened to read about larry's passing..i spent many great days working with larry at iandoli's and shaws when i was produce mgr. i also enjoyed the visits to your house when we would ride by and larry would have us come in for a "cold one" and a lot of laughs...i have moved to maine a few years ago and have retired but the memories of larry will continue...bruce and donna weagle
