Anna, I hope somehow you get this note. I am in total shock. I have been trying to figure out for sometime how I could find you and thought perhaps Carl was on Facebook. My search led me to his obituary. I can't believe it....and Fred is gone too. I am so, so sorry. It sounds like Carl was a wonderful Christian man. If you get this, please write to me. I live in FL now, near Jamie and Heather. Rob and Sharon are in WVA and PA. I am on FB and my email address is: [email protected]. I have thought of you so often and the good times we and our children had together; I never had a friend like you since. All my love and sympathy.....Marina Mateer

I worked for Carl several years ago and I will remember him for the kindness he showed to me and our family.
The vision for a chain of Christ-centered bookstores for New England is but one part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Anna, I am Dora and Alphonse Bourgeois's daughter. I remember when you lived in Waltham Massachusetts, I babysat Carl and Lisa. I also remember going to visit your family in Hubbardston. I loved going to your home, and I remember Fred always made us a delicious cup of tea with honey. I remember the last time I went to your home, I had taken pictures of your beautiful daughter Beth and her cat, Paul was just a little guy (Lisa and Carl were not at home at the time. My mom and dad always enjoyed visiting with you. I often thought of you during these years past. I'm sorry to hear about Fred, and I am sorry to hear about Carl. My heart goes out to you and your beautiful family. Reading these condolences shows me that Carl was an extraordinary person, a fine man that will be missed. You and your family are in my heart, your family has always been special to me. I often thought of you even tho we were many miles apart. xo

Aunt Lillian Pitt asked me to print a copy of this for her. Aunt Lillian was married to my Uncle Kenny. She has kept me updated all these years with pictures, etc. It is now my turn to update her. I wish you all comfort in this time of sorrow. He (Carl) sounds like a great man and he has got to be when he is related to Lillian.

I will never forget the day I was hired at Morning Star over on Airport Rd in Leominster! Carl was working so hard to help establish the store. We shared many high points and low points over the next 5 years. Later, I joined on at the West Springfield store. It was like I had never left. Thanks for all your kinds words, laughs, and for enriching my life by knowing you. See you in heaven my friend.

Carl and his ministry through Morning Star Christian Bookstores has undoubtedly touched many lives. He was also one of the first to support our radio ministry when WFGL became a Christian station. May the Lord comfort his family and friends during this time.

I met Carl at McDonald's over 25 years ago. I knew nothing of the sacrifice of Jesus and for him it was central to who he was and what he did. As a direct result of Carl I accepted Christ and have been walking with Him ever since. Whoever used the word 'legacy' that was a perfect word to use. To all his friends and family....I am sorry for the loss and the void that has been left. He was a great man of God.

When the Morning Star book store opened it's doors on Main St. in Fitchburg, Carl and Rick were always there to help me out as a new Christian. They helped me with a lot of questions that I had, and also with finding great Christian music to listen to. I would listen to people talk about the Lord at the store, which was very different for me because I didn't belong to any church as yet. The help I received at the Morning Star book store was a big stepping stone in my early walk as a Christian. It was always filled with life giving music and a life giving message. Thank you Carl, for going forward in the vision God had for you in this ministry; and thank you Jesus, that we will see you once again in that perfect place...our heavenly home.

Carl was an amazing man of God, and a role model for the many, many lives he impacted. We will always treasure our memories of him as they bring smiles to our faces each time we think of him. He was the best man in our wedding 26 years ago, and he will forever remain the best man in our hearts.

I never met Carl, but the Leominster bookstore was essential to my growth as a new Christian 12 years ago. After attending the life celebration service today, I am sorry I never had a chance to interact with him here on earth. He was someone who truly touched the lives of thousands of people with the love of Christ. I left the service with a new conviction to do better in my own life.

My condolences to the Labrousse family and friends of Carl - May the peace of God be with you all during this sad time. I knew Carl thru my parents who were friends with him. Quite a long time ago now, but at times they would have him over for dinners and I always enjoyed it when he would come...his distinctive voice, ready laughter, and enjoyment of life was something to listen to and enjoy also - And I still remember his calling us children "Sunshine" in greeting or saying goodbye :) Growing up, the trips to Morning Star (on Main St, Airport Rd, etc) were always looked forward...to see what new good books could be found. So Thankful for his bringing such a good store to our area so many years ago! He will be greatly missed by many as he touched many lives.

I will never forget Professor Labrousse. He was by far the best professor I had while at Worcester State College. You could tell that he truly loved to teach, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be taught by such an amazing man. I am sure that he has left a lasting impression on many of his students. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and loved ones.

When I heard last week that Professor Labrousse was not returning to class for the remainder of the semester, I knew it wasn't good. He was such a strong fighter. He came to class the past couple weeks acting is if there was not a worry in the world. He is hands down the best teacher I will ever have. I learned so much from him about business and also real life. My condolences to his family and friends. He will be truly missed.

I will miss you Carl. You were one of the most outwardly human people I have ever met. I have a hundred stories with you somehow central in them. So many memories of my own growing up with you and because of you. I will miss you.

Carl heard the call on his life and went forth with all his energies to accomplish the task that was set before him. I feel that many are in God's Kingdom because of this one life whose dedication to all that he did and sacrificed will be forever grateful. As human's go, he will be remembered as a "shining star" himself. Denise Bartlett, Lancaster,Ma.

Mr. Labrousse was my Business Law teacher Fall semester 2009 @ WSC. He was always upbeat and I enjoyed his class very much. His class was the only one that had a story to go with everything that we learned, which made it easier to remember while taking his tests. I would often talk about these scenarios outside of class and will remember him for always. I am very sorry for your loss.
With sympathy,

As I think back, when Carl and I were just boys, I can see he is deserving of the loving praise we see here. Even at a very early age, he had a tender heart for his fellow human beings. We've lost a true brother in Christ, a man who lived the message.

I remember so many laughs I had with Carl. The night after the hostages returned home from Iran we rode nonstop in the "RX7" to say hi to Lauren in Georgetown, and saw all the wonderful yellow ribbons and it was a feeling and a memory that God and Carl gave me that I will never forget. I had the pleasure of seeing Carl recently for lunch and he told me he was going to buy a house soon. I wondered... as I knew the seriousness of what he was dealing with and facing, but he chose to look beyond and forward. I am glad he loves JESUS so much. No more pain and he is still laughing and smiling... Much Love to you all, Michael

I babysat for my nephew Carl when he was just a toddler-and he had determination even back then. He was passionate for the Lord since the get-go-what an inspiration to the rest of us! I am sad that he left us so soon, but glad that he is no longer suffering, and is enjoying Jesus face to face. I would like to embrace each of you dear family, and mingle my tears with yours. I hope you can feel ours and everyone elses' prayers.

Professor Labrousse I can honestly say was the best teacher in my four years at Worcester State. He mad a 3 hr night class go by very fast and everyone loved his energy and passion for law. I loved his stories and will remember him always in my life. He was a very personable and caring man, and my sympathy goes to the family. Im very sure that he is with god now and painfree!

Carl will be deeply missed. I've known him for almost 10 years, probably the most meaningful 10 years of my life. I thank God that I had him as a friend and a boss. We always wish there had been more time, but God knew when he would be taking Carl home. I thank God that he is now with his merciful savior Jesus. I wish he had been able to see my children grow up and many other things that feel undone, but Carl's race is over and he is enjoying the bliss that Christ purchased for him on the cross.

I don't know what I would have done without the Morning Star store here in Danbury - and greatly thank the man behind the mission. I had the privilege of working for Carl recently and admired him very much. I'll miss seeing his wet face coming in on a rainy night, trunk full of boxes. I was not even aware that Carl had been ill. I first met him some years ago; he represented me in a legal matter. Who would have thought that the first thing a lawyer would do would be to lay hands on and then pray over you! I loved him immediately. And now, despite the loss of such a wonderful example of a faithful man, we can rejoice that he not only suffers no more, but is in the very presence of Our Dear Lord and Savior Jesus. So until we join him, may the Lord continue to comfort all his family, friends and employees alike. God bless you all.

It's always hard to know that a loved one no longer walks among us. It's especially hard when it's someone so full of life with the drive to accomplish and achieve - especially when it's against the odds. Carl was that kind of guy. What a dynamo of power he was. This was always in evidence whenever he'd bring in his friendly and professional team from Morning Star to record commercials here at WVNE Radio. We join others who have been enriched by his presence, and who will miss him greatly. May God bring all of you comfort and the strength to carry on in Carl's memory.

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Carl. I knew him when he had the store on Airport Road in Fitchburg. He was very helpful when I would try to pick out new music to add to my collection and always had something new to share every time I came into the store. That wasn't the only area he was helpful in and am grateful for those things as well. I am honored to have known known him. A friend of mine said he is dancing in heaven now an I truly believe he is. Thank you Lord for the gift of Carl for the time you gave him to us here on earth.
